Another year of hot and cold.
School again and already old.
But Fall’s here, leaves cover the street.
Soon the costumes and trick or treat.
~
This time a pirate, last a ghost.
Once a giant, liked that the most.
Some like witches, monsters and ghouls.
My Mom’s a queen, crowned in jewels.
~
Dad stays home dressed as a grouch.
He opens the door and moves the couch,
watches the game and candy dish.
If no one comes he gets his wish.
~
Porch lights fading, our end of scene.
Dreams are waiting, now’s in between.
Moon shadows dance with shapes unseen.
Good night, all, Happy Halloween!*
