One Way Ticket

.

The world and I on a different plane

Though destinations are the same

Ticket bought for the morning light

Wasting time till the evening flight

*

Runaways, both it and I

Grading shades of clear blue sky

Rocks may roll, some may fly

Most just buried when they die

*

Scoops will make forever night

Landing time’s now in sight

Running late, none’s to blame

The world and I on a different plane

Rolling Coaster

Some days I feel big, some quite small

Some days I feel like nothing at all

Some days high and some are low

Some days I don’t know where to go

~

Some days I go left to find it’s not right

Or think I’m right and circle all night

This ride I’m on just won’t quit

Strapped in a chair, obedient I’ll sit

~

When spinning fast I’m often amused

Till winding down and feeling used

Atop the wheel, enjoying the view

Seeing all when they can’t see you

~

Spectators surround everywhere I see

The invisible clown is how they see me

Then a dash for the gate – almost there!

Anxious for home, strapped safe in my chair

Found Lost

Lost in the sand

Can’t walk, cannot stand

Vultures above awaiting meat

Flesh melts from my feet

.

Waves of heat ride the tide of sands

Blisters ooze muddies bloodied hands

Flesh burned, pores yearn, salt sweat dried

Sandpaper eyes, tears boil un-cried

.

Times far behind, miles are ahead

The only dread now’s not being dead

Visions blurred, yet a figure seen

The end is near, they’re in-between

.

Once blindingly lost, in a blink found

Screaming a last breath yet not a sound

Inviting any – enemy or friend

Kill or cure, any end

Growth of Plight

Engines of plight will grind to a stop

When bloated guts belly flop

Diving high in their oils last drop

~

Autos will stall – jets will fall

Ships adrift with no ports of call

Life consumed by engines sprawl

~

We’ll burn our peat and our coal

Scavenge twigs when no logs roll

Burn our atoms and homes of ole

~

Hope burns rockets for us to roam

In glittered shells, blazing chrome

Turning pages to ash that was our tome

~

Oceans slick with humans last trace.

Now directionless vessels adrift in space

Motionless, still hurrying – to keep the pace

~

Escaping history that was our own

Journey unneeded to a vast unknown

Civilizations die when greed is grown
