Headlights –

.

Optimism is:

Writing an end to darkness

When there’s no bright side

*

.

Un-Free Times –

.

When do poets sell?

When all my time’s spent writing

Or thinking I can’t

*

.

Scientific Optimism –

.

Nature’s law shared in

Physics and psychology

Is that all things bounce

Morning

Woke today – all’s gray

Sunshine bright  next to me lay

Gray has gone away

Children

Children born – then grow

For parents fast – children slow

Clocks tick – parents know

Chains

Chains that bond or bind

Two links needed for a bond

Only us to bind

Hapiphany

I think I had a hapiphany,
an epiphany of living happily.
It’s the manifestation of all things good.
And living the life I know we should.
~
Surrounded by loved ones and good friends,
my face hurts a little cos the smiling never ends.
I wake each morning eager to rise,
I watch light fill the starry night skies.
~
But with the good comes the bad,
I read the news and feel real sad.
So I write of love, joy and bliss.
Then I run upstairs for the day’s first kiss.
~
While my angel slumbers peacefully,
I rearrange animals to make room for me.
Then I slip back in bed with never a peep.
I’ll kiss her shoulder till the end of her sleep.
~
Good morning, I love you” are the first words she’ll hear.
She’ll then pull me closer with warmth to share.
She’ll open her eyes and “I love you” returned.
And a great day has started from all that I’ve learned.

Forever Fine

In the morning cool the mind is clear.
Thoughts are pure and free to share.
Daily troubles still faraway,
evening memories I wish to stay.
~
Solace is found in the arms of another.
The world’s problems no longer smother.
Gentle kisses give way to sleep.
Evening memories I’ll surely keep.
~
The sun will rise and then to set.
Work consumes, but no regret.
The moon will shine on a love that’s mine.
Evening memories, forever fine.

Hats Off to Summer

On this morning’s walk

while enjoying the breeze

I passed by a garden

and started to sneeze

~

I think my thinking cap

Must have blown away

I’ve searched frantically

all morning and day

~

Without my cap

my thought’s gone astray

The pretty blue sky

has now turned to gray

~

I tried an umbrella

that didn’t work

I wore a helmet

but felt like a jerk

~

Without my cap

my writing will end

I guess today

I’ll have to pretend

Imagine That

Imagine that, I’ve nothing to write.
I got up early and stayed up all night.
So I’ll make something up, if that’s OK.
I’ll probably live it some other day.
~
It could be happy or it could be sad.
It could be of some old adventure had.
I’m sure there’ll be others and why not.
Though most quite small, I’ve had a lot.
~
Perhaps a poet imagined that lives on a hill.
They’ll watch the sunrise and do what they will.
That might be good for a poem or two,
or maybe a love sonnet, maybe a few.
~
With these pages hands turned with time,
each face a story, each await their rhyme.
Each chapter has its title, the next to depend.
Tho thy tome grows heavy, I wish it no end.
~
I’ll imagine a tomorrow when something’s to write.
I’ll get up early and stay up all night.

Pencilicillin

I think my pencil’s broken,
nothing’s coming out.
I’ve tried lots of paper,
now I’m feeling doubt.
~
Could it be a dream,
the writing that I’ve done?
Or perhaps a nightmare,
this time I’ve spent as one.
~
I wake up every morning,
before the sun will rise.
My chair awaits its ass,
glasses await their eyes.
~
Coffee I will slurp,
watching hours burn.
If I were a younger man,
it’d be of less concern.
~
Time is not to waste,
though I shouldn’t squawk.
My pencils served me well,
though I may try chalk.
~
I know I need my fix,
words do the trick.
Perhaps I’m not a poet,
just really, really sick.

Status Quo

I’ve got nothing to say,
but that’s OK,
maybe again tomorrow.
~
I’ve no new ideas,
observations or fears,
no places I plan to go.
~
I’ve got coffee to drink,
a place to think,
but my thoughts a definite no-show.
~
So I’ll sit and just wait,
it’s never too late,
something will come I know.
~
With the sun now bright,
I see the light,
words now starting to flow.
~
My poem’s now done,
it’s silly but fun,
my face’s now all aglow.
~
So good morning to you,
and whatever you do,
do it with vigor and gusto.

Just Because

My machine is broken on this cold winter’s day.
I woke up early but I’ve nothing to say.
My pad looks lonely with no words on it yet.
So I looked out the window for inspiration to get.
~
But the sky is gray and the snow is brown.
And the hour’s too early for any action in town.
The birds are still nested and the squirrels asleep.
The cats are about but not making a peep.
~
My world is quiet, silence is heard.
My vision is clear but my thoughts are blurred.
So I look at the news, but nothing’s good there.
So alone I sit on my old kitchen chair.
~
Something will come, it usually does,
I don’t know the reason so I say it’s because.
Because, because is the answer we give when we’ve none,
so that’s all for now because I’m done.

Awakened

I woke today a poet, dreams now in view.
The sun’s soon to rise on a world truly new.
My eyes open wide, heart beats on high.
Senses all a tingle, colors fill the sky.
~
Birds spread their joy, they sing me a song.
Their sounds inspire feelings pure and strong.
A cat sleeps on a table-top, seemingly unaware.
My darling’s soon to wake, morning we will share.
~
Thoughts and emotions again will flow.
Hugs and kisses let us both know.
The future is beginning when we rise.
Our time is surely now, why compromise.

A Perfect Start

I got up nice and early to start the day off right.
It was the perfect start to end a perfect night.
My dreams now have passed and my eyes open wide.
Thoughts of love still linger and the smile I can’t hide.
~
My sweetheart sleeps blissfully as my coffee starts to brew.
The sun gleams with spender and the sky’s a perfect blue.
I’ll wake her soon with a kiss, her body close to mine.
She’ll ask me how I’m feeling. I whisper “with you, always fine”
~
She’ll rise to the sunshine, her eyes glowing bright.
Her face will beam with joy and life is feeling right.
Our day will pass with laughter and love from the heart.
The sunset then boldly welcomes yet another perfect start.

Time’s Up for Down

Days spent in mourning,
nights spent a daze.
Sleep brings no solace,
awaiting morning’s haze.
~
Time has no meaning,
when only ends are sought.
Life has no feeling,
when the mind distraught.
~
Pleasures now elude,
the walls are closing in.
Darkness’s soon to follow,
trapped beneath this skin.
~
Hopes and dreams dissolved,
a mix of bad and worse.
And all that will remain,
yet another mournful verse.

Never Too Late

My darling works early today.
I think of her smiling when on her way.
But I woke up late without a rhyme.
Her alarm will ring and I’m out of time.
.
But those wheels will turn.
And pencils I’ll burn.
Words will appear from the blue,
then rearranged to say “I love you”.
.
I send her a text, her phone will beep.
She’ll reach for it, fresh from sleep.
Her day then starts knowing I care.
And in my heart she’ll always be there.
