Nerdy Lingerie

On tippy toes looking pert,
she dances in her Hogwarts shirt.
Her thick round glasses gaze my way,
she’s so darn cute in nerdy lingerie.
~
She kisses me with a smile,
I kiss her back and we giggle a while.
The music stops but we don’t care,
it’s more about the hugs that we share.
~
She wears her PJ’s when not in bed,
her hair’s always tousled on her head.
She excites me greatly every day,
with or without her nerdy lingerie.

It’s True, It’s True

Our day apart has yet to start,
already I’m missing you.
I woke at dawn with a stretch and yawn,
my morning looking blue.
~
Alone I sit, reminiscing a bit,
thinking of the things we do.
We talk and smile and hug a while,
then kiss an hour or two.
~
My watch I spy with a longing eye,
wishing this day was through.
The feelings clear that you’re my dear,
you make each minute new.
~
Awake I dream a subconscious stream,
my world comes in view.
Silently I sing of the joy you bring,
thankful our love is true.

Hapiphany

I think I had a hapiphany,
an epiphany of living happily.
It’s the manifestation of all things good.
And living the life I know we should.
~
Surrounded by loved ones and good friends,
my face hurts a little cos the smiling never ends.
I wake each morning eager to rise,
I watch light fill the starry night skies.
~
But with the good comes the bad,
I read the news and feel real sad.
So I write of love, joy and bliss.
Then I run upstairs for the day’s first kiss.
~
While my angel slumbers peacefully,
I rearrange animals to make room for me.
Then I slip back in bed with never a peep.
I’ll kiss her shoulder till the end of her sleep.
~
Good morning, I love you” are the first words she’ll hear.
She’ll then pull me closer with warmth to share.
She’ll open her eyes and “I love you” returned.
And a great day has started from all that I’ve learned.

Forever Fine

In the morning cool the mind is clear.
Thoughts are pure and free to share.
Daily troubles still faraway,
evening memories I wish to stay.
~
Solace is found in the arms of another.
The world’s problems no longer smother.
Gentle kisses give way to sleep.
Evening memories I’ll surely keep.
~
The sun will rise and then to set.
Work consumes, but no regret.
The moon will shine on a love that’s mine.
Evening memories, forever fine.

To Die For

I like to smoke but I don’t know why.
I spend lots of money and want to cry.
I’ve burned lots of clothes, now I just sigh.
I’ve bummed from strangers even though I’m shy.
~
I’ve smoked cigars, but butts good bye.
I know smoke a pipe, looks good with a tie.
I can’t smoke on planes, so I don’t fly.
It makes me cough but I don’t get high.
~
I became addicted in the blink of an eye.
I stole packs from my parents, thought I was sly.
I shared them with friends, how cool was I.
I’ve hidden it from family just like a spy.
~
But if you need a light, I’m your guy.
If you need answers I’ll say don’t pry.
I can’t quit today so I won’t try.
Maybe tomorrow, but we know that’s a lie.

Obsession

The pressure’s on to write another.
The question is; why do I bother.
I wake each day before sunrise,
colors burst before my eyes.
~
From black to purples then reds galore,
the depths of each I shall explore.
Orange and yellows welcome pale blues,
clouds frame the futures clues.
~
Thoughts of dreams now come to light,
yesterday’s dread now out of sight.
Rhyming words soon fill my head.
Verses form when the sleep is shed.
~
I ponder what this day will bring.
I’ll sway in time as the birdies sing.
I hope a love poem’s seeping in.
Thinking of my sweet I start to grin.
~
She slumbers while I meet with dawn.
The beauty of each I am drawn.
Though today my mind’s a bit a-flutter,
perhaps tomorrow I’ll write another.

Loveology

beach grass

A new year begins with the start of school.
The days will be busy and our evenings cool.
Jackets we’ll need for our trips to the beach.
Sunsets we’ll miss, they’ve much to teach.
Time brings change as the seasons show.
With seeds now planted our love will grow.

Forest of Hell

Colorless leaf crackle beneath sole-less feet.

The smell of death lingers sweet.

Bramble thick draws blood on paper skin,

digging more deeply the deeper within.

 *

Then starlight fades to the darkness I fear,

moonlight shadows disappear.

Columns abound supporting endless night,

numbers multiply consuming the light.

 *

Welcome dew hangs heavy in unseen air,

to drink deep I do not dare.

Outstretched hands replace teary useless eyes.

Senses heightened, alert of endless cries.

 *

Vibrations of night; soft, loud, far and near,

distant from all, we all hold dear.

Wanting now only to curl-up and weep,

my soul is still for the sickle to reap.

 *

Return to the path I lost yesterday,

blackness turns slowly to gray.

Long nights journey in the forest of hell,

surviving again, except for my shell.

 *

The End

Day ?

Oh no it’s Saturday!

My vacation’s nearly done.

I mostly sat around.

But I had a little fun.

~

Bird sat a parrot,

a story previously told.

Also saw my Ena,

who’s nearly two years old.

~

We got a lot of rain.

So I didn’t cut the grass.

I didn’t trim the bushes,

I gave myself a pass.

~

I didn’t do much writing,

but forced a little bit.

I called it all a journal,

thought surely not a hit.

~

Back to work on monday.

I really can’t complain.

If I had more time,

I’d probably go insane.

Day 11

I went to an umbrella factory.
I’m glad it didn’t pour.
They don’t make umbrellas there,
at least not anymore.
~
There were a few gift shops,
some chickens and an emu.
The restaurant was closed,
there wasn’t much left to do.
~
But I saw my little Ena.
We had a really nice time.
We said our long goodbyes.
Then home to write today’s rhyme.

Day 9

Yeah, they made it, little Ena’s here!
Grandpa’s happy to see his dear.
We had a tea party, read some books,
explored all the house’s crannies and nooks.
~
We played some more then off to the tub.
Her mom takes over to scrub a-dub, dub.
We read one more book that turned into three.
Then that sleepy baby fell asleep on me.
~
We all woke today at seven o’clock.
We had some breakfast and found her sock.
Now they’re packing, then to a Pow Wow.
I wanted to go, but I’m too tired now.

Day 8

A week now’s past with one to go.
What are my plans? I don’t know.
It’s Saturday and I wait for a text.
When received I’ll know what’s next.
~
I’m expecting a visit much later today.
It’s Ena, who’s two, with lots to say.
She’ll arrive with her mom in a car too small.
It had been mine but I’m too tall.
~
It’s a long drive from New York to here.
I know, I do it ten times a year.
I hope they come, I miss the baby.
But no text yet, so for now it’s still maybe.

Day 7

Wow, what a scare I had,
cat’s on the stairs and Fred is mad.
Seems the cat was planning her attack,
so I moved the cage and scratched her back.
~
That was close, way too close for me.
The worst possible scenario I did see;
the cat tore up and the bird flew away.
Fortunately a story I’ve no need to convey.
~
So all’s well and I’ve something to write about.
This recent writer’s block leaves me with doubt.
But I’m on vacation, no worries yet.
When I go back to work, then I’ll sweat.

Day 6

I just got a parrot whose name is Fred.
Though not to worry, no one’s dead.
I’m bird-sitting, I guess you could say.
We’ll sit together for a week and a day.
~
He doesn’t say much, that’s just fine,
I’d teach him some words, but he’s not mine.
He taunts the cats while perched in the hall.
If I opened the cage they’d all have a ball.
~
There’d be feathers all over I’d have to clean.
But I’m on vacation, don’t need a scene.
So far, all’s well, I’ll let you know.
Whoa, a screech, I gotta go!!!

Better Than Nothing

My thinking cap has gone astray.
And I, bewildered another day.
But, at least no work, my day is free.
Perhaps today a poem’s to be.
~
I try to write whenever I can,
was just a child when that began.
Sometimes it flows without a stop.
Then years will pass and all a flop.
~
The flop phase now is where I’m at.
But I’ll keep trying and that is that.
The day’s still young and I’ve still time.
Let’s all hope for a better rhyme.

Perspective

The day was long, the night short.
Arms embrace for support.
Work was taxing and taxes due.
Trinkets bought but just a few.
~
Pillows help soften the blow.
Blankets warm from head to toe.
Legs intertwined and bodies askew,
it’s fun to try something new.
~
Perspectives change in new light,
loving eyes improve our sight.
Peaceful slumber finds its way,
the perfect end to an imperfect day.

Dreaming Reality

moonrise

I woke today all askew.
Got up late but dreamt of you.
Our day was perfect, evening grand.
We watched the sunset hand in hand.
~
The moon rose and stars shined bright.
There could never be a better night.
Then a bell rang, my dream was done.
But I’ll see you soon for some real fun.

Getting Old

My story today is put on hold.
I’ve snow to shovel in the cold.
This foolish weather’s getting old.
I should move south, so I’ve been told.
~
Fresh air and sunshine’s what I need.
No more boots or coats of tweed.
No more shovels, my winters freed.
But there’ll be no speedo, that’s agreed.
~
What about sunburn, I burn fast,
a lesson learned from my past.
And the bugs, their numbers vast,
hurricanes too are often forecast.
~
I’d miss the autumn with colors bright.
And the pleasant walks on a summer’s night.
Spring of course brings a new days light.
So one more year I guess is alright.

Flight Lesson

With the first bird’s tweet before sunrise,
an eager young fairy opened her eyes.
Impatient she was to explore a new day,
to discover new things, have fun and play.
~
Silently venturing from the hollow of her tree,
she took the leap to be fluttering free.
She soared through the dark above the treetops,
seeing first the sun shine on morning bunny hops.
~
Reaching new heights she dove for the green.
There twists and turns through branch barely seen.
She then came to a stop with forest floor near,
where she sat on a twig spying something unclear.
~
The rays of dawn peaked betwixt shadowed leaf.
A lone beam shone on a nest, wove beyond belief.
‘Twas silken hung with shimmers and wiggles.
Soon out pops a butterfly to bright eyes and giggles.
~
The pair swiftly flew off, with each a new friend.
Their flight of fancy they hoped without end.
The forest was waking from the dark of night.
Ferns were unfurling to welcome the light.
~
Morning blossoms’ blooming’s a colorful treat.
Dew drop reflections fragrantly sweet.
The bumble bee’s buzz in search they roam.
Lady bugs lingering wished to be home.
~
Crickets stopped chirping, they’re done for the day.
The squirrels and chipmunks have come out to play.
Frolicking freely time quickly passed by.
Their world growing smaller the higher they fly.
~
Sensing the danger circling above,
the butterfly thought a game the fairy would love.
For his instinct foretold both could be caught.
All else he knew his new friend had taught.
~
He said “wait down below, I’ll hide and you seek”.
“But count to a thousand before you peek.”
The adventurous fairy dove quick for the wood.
The brave butterfly flew higher than he should.
~
Counting’s completed, now’s time to discover.
She opened her eyes while humming birds hover.
She asked of them if a butterfly was seen,
one with big wings of red, yellow and green.
~
The little birds knew not of his hiding place.
Sadness now shaded the young fairy’s face.
She searched high and low, both left and right.
Her sight’s now shrinking in falling sunlight.
~
Shadows grow longer with the moon’s turn to rise
A blanket of stars soon covered sleepy eyes.
A quiet night passing, she dreamt of her tree.
And the nightmare had, unprepared to be free.
~
Awakening again to a song she knew well.
Birds summon the sun as the pale moon fell.
The fairy sat patient on a stump by a stream.
Butterfly! Oh butterfly she did loudly scream.
~
The butterfly didn’t hear her mournful cry,
though the echo heard through valley and sky.
Her parents welcomed their lost child’s voice.
Soon by her side they all did rejoice.
~
The young fairy’s joy soon returned to tears.
She spoke of the butterfly and of her fears.
Her parents assured her he had lost his way.
But he’d surely return somehow, someday.
~
The family raced back to their cozy little home.
A place shared with others in an old honey comb.
The fairy now happily awaits her old friends return.
And keeping friends close is what she did learn.

What the Schmuck

With icy fingers and hidden hands,
an unseen face footless stands.
Awaiting the cough of their next guest,
no’s no answer for their request.
~
“Follow me; your time has come,
the path is short, the feeling’s numb.
Two packs a day gives you early admission.
Your time with me is but a transition.”
~
The reaper laughed at their instructions,
fearing not their many abductions.
They said the pain would fade away,
but how long they wouldn’t say.
~
I gasped for breath, not wanting to go.
Why must it be now I didn’t know.
I said I quit the smokes a few weeks back.
“I’ve only a cold so please cut me some slack.”
~
They laughed again at my poor excuse.
Saying my line was long but I choose the noose.
I begged and pleaded to be set free.
They replied that they had a deal for me.
~
I said “that’s great”, not having a clue.
They then told me all the things I must do.
Their list was long but I happily agreed.
I’d now do anything, if to only be freed.
~
They said they’d go but they’d leave a scar.
Then a loud scary cry was heard from afar.
The reaper then vanished and I lay alone,
reflecting on the habits I’m prone.
~
A new day’s begun and life’s the more dear.
The clock’s still ticking but the ends not so near.
I bargained with death but won’t press my luck.
And my future’s now brighter, no longer a schmuck.

Much Ado About Nothing

On a street that shouldn’t be there,
there’s a house that shouldn’t stand.
Its front is covered in thorny vines,
out back a yard of sand.
~
The windows are always open,
cats all come and go.
There’s a dog that barks all night,
it’s really a horror show.
~
There’s an old car in the driveway,
but no one has seen it move.
A radio’s always blasting upstairs,
so someone’s got the groove.
~
The locals all say it’s haunted,
they’ve heard stories all their life.
Newlyweds had once lived there,
but no one had ever seen the wife.
~
Packages and mail get delivered,
but the trash never goes out.
Imagination fills in the blanks,
cos that’s what fantasy’s about.
