Lessons

DSCN6495

The more costly the watch the freer the time

The louder the song the looser the rhyme

Turn on the light half the world’s dark

Smell the gas we see with a spark

Life in a bubble called atmosphere

Poking holes without a care

Drink deep from fragile stemmed glass

Candlelit dreams with time to pass

To guess and be wrong a zero gain bet

The higher the proof the more wrong we get

To prove the proof a wasted equation

Pens against bombs can never be won

Words in the air unheard over fuss

Numbers on paper not to discuss

Lessons of life shared by all; never stand, never fall

Never swim, never sink, never thirst, never drink

Always bright much unseen, blind to details in-between

Never laugh, never weep, never dive unless it’s deep

Never leap in the melting caps ice

A lesson we can never learn twice

The End

Questions

Which came first?

The egg or the hen, children or men,

now or then, the poet or the pen?

What comes last?

The future or the past, rising high or sinking fast,

a little fizzle or mighty blast, a crumpled sketch or final cast?

What is the end?

Goodbye to a cherished friend, a straight path or twist and bend,

a love note always meant to send, a dark void to descend

or love, joy and happiness to share and to lend?

These questions are the same for all but our answers will depend.

The End or Beginning

No Words

An unexpected journey has begun;
it starts each day with the rising sun.
Two fates collided with a rush,
our worries faded into a hush.
~
I wake each day with a smile,
surely to glow all the while.
My first thought is only you,
now silly dreams just won’t do.
~
Our minds, they are in sync,
I sense what you think.
I know what you’re feeling,
our souls now reeling.
~
Our days now made more bright,
we’ll tingle till our last kiss goodnight.
And I, now a poet speechless and dreams won’t do.
And my heart now and forever beats for only you.

Damn Slunk

Free will gives us choices.
Souls sort and weigh.
Lust fills in the blanks.
Feet tap another day.
~
When the fates of two collide,
change is felt together.
When hearts and minds align,
pairs will love forever.
~
When one of four is askew,
time will corrode and sever.
Love is not a slam dunk.
The heart and mind know never.

Distractions

~

Oh tiny ant where do you go?

You dash and flitter to and fro

Treading over floor of wood

In search of something surely good?

.

Oh lowly ant what do you seek?

With every rise another peak

With every gap another turn

Oh tiny ant what do you yearn?

.

Burdens weigh upon your back

Up and down your random track

Your only goal to share with all

Yet chances great you will fall

.

Oh lowly ant where did you go?

There are things I need to know

In a blink you disappear

Homeward bound? Or not I fear

.

Oh tiny ant no more to see

Oh lowly ant you are me

Ever Pending

~

Pending ending

Time’s descending

But look up must I

The past leaves us grounded

Yet the future’s in the sky

*

Pending ending

Life’s transcending

But look forward must I

Despair is all around

But good does never die

*

Pending ending

Love’s remembering

To never forget must I

Endings pending ever change

And alas must I

Cell to Pad

~

All have stories, few ever tell,

journeys ventured and desires to quell.

Desires quenched and misgivings had,

good tales abound, few ever bad.

~

Temperatures rise and emotions swell,

tightly bound the poet does dwell.

Here words cascade to drown the sad,

ink flows freely I think I’m glad.

~

For if to spiral back into my hollow shell,

where the sea’s only heard is my living hell.

There verses echo of another passing fad,

when only time notes the page we add.

Warz

*

Some hearts warm, some cold,

yet all share a bloody thirst.

Circulating both love and hate,

who’s to shout or shoot first?

.

This darkness of man held in a hand,

yet the voice has never killed.

Though orders cried for more to die,

by others brave and skilled.

.

Organs strewn and heads hewn,

the victors’ lust begins.

Checks cashed then all gets smashed,

the big brass always wins

.

Mothers cry and babies die,

someone wins a pin.

The degree to which this hell’s risen,

is all an unforgiveable sin.

.

Some hearts warm and some are cold,

why can’t we try to neutralize?

Let’s build on our commonality,

returning joy to our children’s eyes.

Trellivision

~

Seedlings placed by chance or hand,

burst to thrust from loam and sand.

Their journey skyward a jagged path,

intertwining askew betwixt slatted lath.

.

With thorny fingers, not meant to reveal,

oft misread yet intensions are real.

Twisting and weaving through space and time,

trellis clung for their treacherous climb.

.

They’ve hands of green to catch the rays,

holding the light for cloudy days.

Or drenches, droughts and starless nights,

all’s risen anew to new morning heights.

.

Weathering a diverse world of adversity,

timely teachings taught of tolerance and tenacity.

Evolving resolve for dependence together,

blooms beckon bees and birds of a feather.

.

Golden treasure’s deep to entice and please,

fragrant allure’s cast to the breeze.

Sights and scents sensed by all.

Colors await next seasons call.

.

Days grow shorter, stems grow long,

primed for pruning though nothing wrong.

Bunched and bundled, arrayed and displayed,

till petals drop there a table laid.

.

Brushed in hand returned to land,

budding foundation where others may stand.

Cohesive nature’s expressive of art,

cycles revolve all back to start.

.

And this rose but a metaphor for all that’s living,

words remind literally of what life’s giving.
