Confliction – Morning Triku #144

Only Reflection

Depression is when
the fog passes and the dark
is only more clear

What’s Right

When optimism writ
Pessimism can be erased
Realism then left

Libra-tions

Balance achieved when
heavy hearts and weighty souls
meet a mind on point

Becoming Becoming

Valentine’s Day is coming,
it’s time to make a plan.
Get those wheels turning,
show her you’re her man.
~
Perhaps a romantic dinner,
the dishes then are done.
Then take her dancing,
you’re sure to have some fun.
~
Don’t forget the flowers,
some candy and a card.
Leave yourself a note,
it shouldn’t be that hard.
~
Treat her extra special,
stare into her eyes.
Tell her you’re the luckiest,
and she’s the grand prize.
~
Tell her that you love her,
show her in every way.
Make her your Valentines,
each and every day!

Ten, Nine, Eight …

Much surprised by the calendar today.
Valentines’ is less than a month away.
I’ve thoughts to think and things to buy.
There’s flowers and candy, gladly no pie.
~
I should be ready; it comes every year.
A showing of love to make things clear.
A poem’s expected and that means stress.
My pencil’s dull and my mind’s a mess.
~
The time is short, and my list is long.
I’ve much to do and can’t be wrong.
I love to write but when I choose.
When I’m forced I get the blues.
~
That’s much like life, at least for me.
I’m at my best when I’m free,
sharing a life with my best friend.
We’ll laugh and love until the end.
~
She makes my life a joy to live.
So something special I’ll need to give.
These next few weeks won’t be much fun.
Then again, I might be done.

Changes

The morning today was gray,
but the groundhog’s done his thing.
With only a few weeks to go,
we’re soon to hear the birdies sing.
~
Flowers are soon to blossom,
trees will soon be green.
The air will be growing warmer,
bees will soon be seen.
~
Bug bites soon will fester;
poison ivy’s soon to itch.
Rain will pour in buckets,
isn’t the spring a bitch.
~
I could be optimistic,
glad that the winter’s gone.
I should be really happy,
cos soon I’ll see my lawn.
~
But with the season’s change,
our time too does pass.
And as I grow ever older,
I’m becoming a pain in the ass.

Martyrdom’s Thorn

The dreaded day is coming,
it makes the poet cringe.
Their ink is overflowing,
all the world will binge.
~
Heartfelt words sculpted,
sent to loved ones who are dear.
Stress is soon to peak,
the deadline’s growing near.
~
“I love you” bought and sold,
drug stores sell out fast.
But first the prediction,
then the shadows cast.
~
Winter winds still blowing,
heat’s felt in the heart.
The pressure now’s building,
for another Valentines’ start.

Too Cold To Go Outside

I woke today – weatherman lied.

I rolled over and I sighed.

Couldn’t sleep, eyes open wide.

It’s too cold to go outside.

~

There’ll be no swing set or slide.

There’ll be no walk or bike ride.

There’ll be no kites to be flied.

It’s too cold to go outside.

~

Today we have to play inside.

We’ll think of things never tried.

Stocking feet on floors we’ll glide.

It’s too cold to go outside.

~

We’ll build a fort for us to hide.

We’ll play dress up – you be bride.

Explore jungles – I’ll be guide.

It’s too cold to go outside.

~

Time to dig a path that’s wide.

Getting dressed, boot laces tied.

Wind so stingy I almost cried.

It’s too cold to go outside.

~

All’s warm, coats hung to be dried.

Find crayons, colors I’ve eyed.

Draw pictures for the fridge with pride.

It’s too cold to go outside.

~

Icy world all is gray sky-ed.

Plants droopy, looks like they died.

Bay frozen we’ll see no tide.

It’s too cold to go outside.

~

Now sleep, teddies at my side.

Cold nights end, take it in stride.

Spring soon then winter we’ll chide.

When not too cold to go outside.

Uncommon Sense

Punch the clock, kiss time away

Let’s all have a common sensical day

We’ll strive to attain the white picket fence

From this thing called common sense

 ~

Though no more than society’s rigidity

Saying that everyone had better agree

And if you don’t than you must be lacking

But hey – screw them! You don’t need their backing

 ~

Give it your all, do your best then see who’s slacking

Now get off the fence it’s time to get cracking

And when someone says you lack common sense

Say thanks, I’d rather be uncommon than dense

Too Little Rhyme ~

Life is Poetry

Some is good and some is bad

Most we’ll never see

Forever’s Never Last ~

Our writing is the

Exercise that forces us

To live fitfully

Share the Buzz

There once was a once upon a time.
Actually there’s many and some do rhyme.
So here it goes another like the rest.
It might not be the worst but won’t be the best.
~
Once upon a time there was;
bees in a garden sharing a buzz.
They flutter high and they flutter low,
they flit where they need to go.
~
They all know each other, each by name.
But humans think they’re all the same.
Unwittingly perhaps, speciesists are we,
but they don’t need us as we need the bee.
~
They grow our food and sweeten our tea,
an absolute necessity, don’t you agree?
So next time you see one, share their buzz.
Cos without them our once will be was.

Vacation

Toys are broken, now back to school.
Christmas is over, mom said that’s cool.
She rushed our breakfast packing our lunch.
My brother made faces, I gave him a punch.
~
He threw a banana, it hit mom’s head.
She spilled the milk, her face turned red.
Our dog ran in to save the day.
He licked up the milk and wanted to play.
~
We gave him some scratches and a treat.
Then mom tied shoes too tight on our feet.
We put on our hats, mittens and coats.
Mom packed our bags with books and notes.
~
We walked to the bus stop to meet our friends.
The bus pulled up and our vacation now ends.
The parents all smiled and waved goodbye.
Then home they went for some needed shut-eye.

The Yearly Dump

I woke today, yippee ki-yay.
I rushed downstairs to welcome the gray.
A little rain won’t make me blue.
It’s New Year’s Eve and I’ve much to do.
~
Resolutions are needed, more than a few,
but first a cup of my favorite brew.
The aroma awakens my primal needs.
My pad awaits my list of good deeds.
~
I’ll be less lazy and help pluck the weeds.
I’ll write about something everyone reads.
I’ll be nicer to friends and all others.
I’ll treat everyone like sisters and brothers,
~
I’ll respect this world as fathers and mothers.
I’ll throw a big party if given my druthers.
I’ll try to eat better and not get too plump.
I’ll waste less time perched on my rump.
~
I’ll smile more and not be a grump.
I’ll speak more kindly and be less of a chump.
I’ll say “I love you” every single day.
And I’ll start this New Year the very best way.

My Love

A look, touch – A kiss

Hands, bodies – Tactile bliss

Love – Nothing’s amiss

Neck caressed long and sweet

Rhythm head to feet

My Pencil

My pencil in hand – mind set free
Erasing the chains binding me
Safe in my world of poetry
A better friend there cannot be

No rhyme or reason there’s to flee
No shackles of society
No meter of conformity
No question of sincerity

No judge, jury or guilty plea
No door can stop my slender key
I’ll wander through infinity
Another side of life’s journey

Draw lines that know no boundary
Return with words for all to see
Arrange them well – create beauty
Then thank my little piece of tree

The End       sck081514

A Holiday Plan

It all starts when the turkey is done.
A month flies by while on the run.
I don’t mean to be a Scrooge or Grinch,
but I can be either in a pinch.
~
I don’t really hate the holidays,
but time could be spent in better ways.
We cut down trees to place on stands.
We’ll slap on balls with eager hands.
~
We cover it in lights to watch it glow.
Then when droopy to the curb it’ll go.
We wrap up gifts to pile high,
then the bill comes in and we all cry.
~
We’ll fill up bags with excess waste,
adding last year’s things we bought in haste.
So maybe next year we can stop and pause.
And maybe give a vacation to old Santa Claus.
