What eats like a bug
and flies like a bug, yet not?
It’s a humming-bird.

.
The world and I on a different plane
Though destinations are the same
Ticket bought for the morning light
Wasting time till the evening flight
*
Runaways, both it and I
Grading shades of clear blue sky
Rocks may roll, some may fly
Most just buried when they die
*
Scoops will make forever night
Landing time’s now in sight
Running late, none’s to blame
The world and I on a different plane

Spring rain falls
Summer heat soars
Autumn hues fade
Winter blues roar
*
Mornings disrupt peace
Days absorb light
Evenings bear reflection
Night awakens fright
*
Seconds seem like hours
Hours feel like days
Days bleed together
Another seasons haze

If all is blackness
and shear negativity.
Then all is bright white

I tried to pen a beautiful rhyme
But I cried most every time
I’ve tried to write a love song
But the notes all came out wrong
.
I tried to bake a birthday cake
All I got was a burnt mistake
I’ve tried to pick you wild flowers
Till’ the bees rained down like spring showers
.
I try to say I love you,
each and everyday
I’ll try again tomorrow,
when the pain’s gone away

Due to insecurity
This life of mine cannot be free
Brain’s cluttered with negative stuff
This uphill charge – I’ve had enough
~
Words all mean different things
Too many choices a sentence brings
Paragraphs explode exponentially
Random letters pour down on me
~
The sun comes out, I work indoors
On my day off it rains for sure
All my pencils say “NO” today
They too are tired of writing gray
~
My mind now wanders to parts unknown
Surrounded by friends, feeling alone
With aging body and child’s mind
A place to fit I’ve yet to find
~
I’m sorry for wasting your precious time
I guess it best to end this rhyme
~

All unique, all the same
None at fault, all to blame
The heat rises from a flame
The cold sinks from their shame
Players always lose the game
Winners always choose their fame
Memories hang in a frame
The future lies, the past tame
Will, won’t, went – glad you came?

Rains must fall for flora to bloom
The sun returns to lighten the gloom
Burdens of time rise and drop
All’s wound-up to never stop

Days grow longer, ends grow near
Nights shorter, lessens the fear
Til’ Autumn begins – bittersweet
Hues blossom to clutter the street
~
Kicked around by cold wet feet
Herded into piles, nice and neat
Replaced by snow, a one-time novelty
Reminded of months I’d rather not see
~
Then back to square one, worse for wear
Dreaming of sleep without the nightmare
Sorry to bore you with words dismal and glum
Yet these words only half of the pages sum
~
Blank spaces between remain for imagery to grow
Where brighter poetry’s written – tomorrow

Our nights shorter and days are long
Girls are prettier, men never wrong
Our lead can be soft with steel strong
Ain’t no poets, just cowboy songs
*
Boot heels stompin, greased hands clappin
All just-a-dancin and a-back-slappin
No-one’s wrong when everyone’s right
On this big ole globe that cools every night
*
So come on down and you’ll agree
Ammo only hurts when it’s free
So elevate high up on a shelf
Hidden from bad-guys, kids and self
*
Keep tucked away safe for a rainy day
When alien invaders immigrate our way
Or the foretold glorified blaze of a hellish fire-fight
Where winged we’ll soar into apocalyptic light
*
All profoundly pleased the penchant was right
Our victory pre-applauded for forgone foresight

Pay it Forward –
When I was child
All I’d want was to be a
Successful grown up
….
Reverse Mortgage –
Now I’m all grown up
Not success less, yet want to
Be a little kid

Paid In Full – The End
Tis words never to
Be written nor conceived if
Death is as perceived

I like haiku-ing,
though I sometime think that for
every haiku,
.
a poem written,
for every poem a
story or maybe
.
a novel, but if
I wrote novels there’d be no
time to write haikus.

See No Evil
Eyes shut mask the fright
Eyes shut also hide the light
Eyes open see right

Hear No Evil
Noise surrounds, drowning
Screams, laughs trickle in-between
Ghostly silence lurks

As with time, the finer the line
The more capable we’ve become to define
Unless these lines were made to define
Then they’re just a waste of our time
Unless they’re all that’s known, then their fine
