Write On Time

Trapped in a shell fragile and weak,
the mind open, lips leak.
Hands scribe screams unheard.
Hearts echo every word.
~
The past flows, futures dribble.
The when’s now the head scribbles.
Cracks appear with thoughts to speak.
Trapped in a shell the darkness is bleak.
~
But the light is sensed without eyes.
Truth is felt through the lies.
Shells hatch and something grows.
And that’s the way the story goes.

Damn Slunk

Free will gives us choices.
Souls sort and weigh.
Lust fills in the blanks.
Feet tap another day.
~
When the fates of two collide,
change is felt together.
When hearts and minds align,
pairs will love forever.
~
When one of four is askew,
time will corrode and sever.
Love is not a slam dunk.
The heart and mind know never.

Rough Seas

bootcamp

Off to sea at seventeen
To see a world I hadn’t seen
To find a place to call my own
Youthful vigor, this child grown
~
This child grown yet not mature
Too many choices that’s for sure
Open eyes and open mind
Open mouth running blind
~
Open mouths words will flow
Open heart with nowhere to go
Met a gal, our short time grand
We toured my ship hand in hand
~
Phone calls followed, her “brother” met
One of a few I’d like to forget
He asked a favor, I obliged
I tried being good, I really tried
~
But all was not as it appeared
Soon a meeting that I feared
Spoke with my Captain, a man truly trusted
He sat me down and said I was busted
~
It was that sweet young gal, I adored
Was a narc I brought aboard
Years now past, I say what the hell
A sailor no more, but I’ve stories to tell

Reality Was

With love in one’s heart each day a new start.
The hurts endured and more is lured.
When one’s face to the light the burn blinds sight,
but warmth’s the start off a thawing heart.
~
With love in one’s heart each day a new a start.
When reality’s behind tomorrow’s to find.
Optimism prevails when pain derails.
And negative’s a restart for the love in one’s heart.

Every Other Flight

Sleepy eyes look to the skies,
I see all is bright.
A sleepy head soon off to bed,
whispers an unheard goodnight.
~
For love that beams, now it seems,
is shrouded from the light.
The moon does glow but tomorrow will go,
then to rise again another night.
~
Dreams awake from visions take.
And reality blurs my sight.
As reality is just yesterday’s fizz,
a cocktail of frivolity, felicity and fright.
~
Lids now subdued, some are screwed.
But I’ve slept before and I toss and turn alright.
Then from my tussled bed with foggy head,
I’ll rise again, again I’ll fight.

Night & Day

I rose at sunrise hoping for light.
Solace unfound in the dead of night.
The sky was clear, the outside bright.
Dirty dishes in my sink obscured my sight.
~
Beauty’s framed between the panes.
Life’s contained within our brains.
The past raps our view in chains.
Hearts beat with bloody stains.
~
An hour passed and coffee’s done.
Distracted by clutter there’s no time for fun.
The future surrounds with nowhere to run.
Plans unmade have already begun.
~
Standing still won’t get you there.
Steps taken lead to somewhere.
Dreams awaken wishes to share.
Wishing only dreams awakens a nightmare.
~
Steady ground supports our feet.
Standing tall feels complete.
Second cups ready, I feel the heat.
And a little sugar helps make it sweet.

Dwelling

Bed soon awaits this dreary day.
I wish sweet dreams would come my way.
I don’t want to fight or need to play.
I just hope tomorrow’s better than today.
~
I know this sounds gloomy, but I’ve only begun.
This poem could get worse or might be fun.
But we’ll have to wait until I’m done.
So let’s start again, this is line one.
~
Bed soon awaits this dreary day.
A day so dismal I’ve nothing to say.
But I didn’t get beat up or have dues to pay.
And that’s a lot better than it was yesterday.
~
Sad days are passing and heart’s mending well.
Tomorrow holds no promise or soul to sell.
My heart will beat again then I’ll joyously yell.
Now that sounds better, I’ve no longer to dwell.

Post Conceptualization

Conceptualization is not relief.
Realization is not belief.
Hearts broken mend with time and care.
But minds always feel the ghostly snare.
~
Belief of spirit’s free to perceive.
Relief from spirit’s free to conceive.
Time’s broken with a half hearts beat.
Half or whole minds do trick and treat.
~
Demons follow, dreams lead.
Choices choose and hungers feed.
Giving more is to receive.
Getting less is no relief.
~
Belief in love costs to share.
Relief of heartache spirits dare.
Hearts retell with timely ticks.
Minds can conjure more treats than tricks.

Falls Risen

With the bliss of falling in love,
a crash may come with a shove.
Left Broken hearted from the fall,
broken harder without a call.
~
With the blight of love felled,
short of sight and emotions swelled.
Yet a heart broken once heard loves call.
Now to rise again colored by this fall.

Tis

Loving’s easy to fall’s hard.
“Tis the life of this old bard”
Futures await a new sunrise.
Honesty’s seen feeling lies.
~
Eyes gaze upon another’s soul.
Walls unscaled take a toll.
When “I love you” whispered,
volume’s to oft heard.
~
The vision’s carried in the heart.
We’re to shed with care, as an art.
A curse, demon, gift or friend,
a love of love can never end.
~
Wheels turn, neutrals unknown.
Reverse a journey and forward’s grown.
Loving’s easy, to find’s hard.
“Tis the life of this old bard”

Underway

Ships set sail on an endless sea.
It may be the first or last to be.
Success or failure’s just a chance.
Sink or swim, much like romance.
~
Yet it is the sea that transports life.
Swells and ebbs or filled with strife.
Horizons change up the mast, hearty souls say.
Harbors calm guide this soulful hearts way.

Pro Epilogue

Here I sit with a heavy heart,
writing the end before the start.
A future seen and all was bright.
Yet alone we lay in the dark of night.
~
Now the unknown we’re again to face,
our yesterdays vanished without a trace.
Tomorrows will come, some will cry.
Death can consume before we die.
~
Spirits awaken if chosen to see.
Luck’s a gift, happiness free,
time is chance and life’s a friend.
Love’s a gamble, I bet to the end.

Art for Sight

Second guesses are twice wrong.
If you don’t like the music don’t write the song.
When a heart has a question the answer’s foregone.
A canvas stretched can’t mimic the dawn.
~
Too much thought can be a curse.
A little more can be a verse.
Half the time we’re half a sleep.
We feel safe in the dreams we peep.
~
100% per try comes once.
50/50 you’re a dunce.
Start from scratch, shoot for the moon.
You may miss but you’ll know soon.
~
Primal intuition on cave walls bear.
The futures instinct paints ones fear.

Passionate Passage

Just a little exercise to see what I do,
I’m going the bathroom to write about poo.
I’ve fluffy white paper that floats from the wall.
And a sink nearby, in case I fall.
*
In a window with shutters I control the scene.
But the stench still oozes in-between.
There’s a mirror that magically hangs above.
It’s never quite straight, much like love.
*
The image’s the same no matter the tilt.
It tells no lies or feels no guilt.
I’ll wipe the smudges, the exercise through.
I passed the test but slipped in do.

Crossroads

Maybe a message will set things right.
Or should I wait another night.
Maybe’s she’s waiting for my call.
A show of friendship could say it all.
~
I’d like to know how she’s feeling.
Maybe like me with a heart reeling.
Will there be anger, will we cry?
Will we laugh, will we lie?
~
Or will she say “Oh I’m feeling fine”.
Then I’d know she’s never to be mine.
Should I except loss to relive the pain?
Or make the call to break my heart again?
