Peas & Carrots

You can make a pile, I’ll make a stack.
You can smile at me and I’ll smile back.
I’ll boil the water, you make the tea.
I’ll blow you a kiss and you blow one to me.
~
You can pop the popcorn, I’ll melt the butter.
You can hold my hand and make my heartbeats flutter,
I’ll choose the movie, you pick the day.
The next time we’ll switch and both have our way.
~
I’ll clear the table, you clear the waste.
We can share dessert, I’ll have a taste.
You can say “I love you” and I’ll say it too.
Then we’ll share our futures, both, me and you.

In the Dark

~*~
If to imagine a perfect life;
paths of ease and little strife,
morning smiles and a noon surprise,
sunsets reflected in each other’s eyes.

Our eve’s playful, toying future schemes.
Nights shared cuddling, kissing and living our dreams.
The sun then will rise for me and you.
Each day a new start of our lives anew.

None Today

~

There’ll be no daily sonnet today.

Thought has wandered and gone astray.

Nimble quill won’t dance on parchment bare,

seducing lonely on table near.

The well is dry from which I must drink.

Chair is empty were journeys to think.

No inky tears shed, blotted or smeared.

No blackened hands bloodied and feared.

Letters scrambled all over my mind.

Their chosen order I cannot find.

Brittle wax puddle proves candles death.

The darkness swallows my daylights breath.

Blindness shackles a masked and heavy head.

I shrink into my unwanted bed.

Heart and soul content for tomorrow.

When ink, I hope, once more will flow

Almost There

Almost sixty, though I’m not quite there.
But I’ve learned some things I’d like to share.
First; get up early and watch the sun rise.
Then the world will get brighter before your eyes.
~
Indulge your passions whenever you can.
Allow yourself time and have a plan.
Make others happy and they’ll do the same.
Accept your mistakes when you’re to blame.
~
Give freely your love and never resist.
Make the most of life’s many turns and twists.
Take note of the bad but never complain.
Look for the good and don’t dwell on the pain.
~
This list could run on but I’d rather not preach.
Though it’s always important to learn and to teach.
So just one more thing before I go;
If you’re in love, be sure you let them know.

All Right

Hurry up it’s getting late,
the morning’s nearly past.
I missed today’s sunrise
and the roads are filling fast.
~
It’s not that I’ve a place to go,
or anyone I need to see.
I just like the early morning time,
it’s when my mind is free.
~
I prefer to write at first light
and be ready when my darling wakes.
She’ll sip a coffee and read her poem,
with a couple of kissing breaks.
~
Our day then starts happily
and continues through the night.
Then we’ll snuggle once again
and know that all’s alright.
~
Whispers we’ll share and more kisses too,
until our eyelids weigh.
We’ll dream about each other
and yet another wonderful day.

Everlasting

Wedding bells were ringing, tolling strong and loud.
My nephew walked the aisle, standing tall and proud.
His bride by his side, smiles from ear to ear.
Her excitement is quite evident, her feelings are quite clear.
~
First exchanging vows, then a kiss shared.
Their devotion’s on display, truly now declared.
The future is their beacon, a new family’s cast.
Their eyes tell the story of a love to last and last.

Awakened

I woke today a poet, dreams now in view.
The sun’s soon to rise on a world truly new.
My eyes open wide, heart beats on high.
Senses all a tingle, colors fill the sky.
~
Birds spread their joy, they sing me a song.
Their sounds inspire feelings pure and strong.
A cat sleeps on a table-top, seemingly unaware.
My darling’s soon to wake, morning we will share.
~
Thoughts and emotions again will flow.
Hugs and kisses let us both know.
The future is beginning when we rise.
Our time is surely now, why compromise.

Sharing

With every little word,
a soulful love song is heard,
expressing thoughts that we share.
Our silence would be absurd.
~
With every little glance,
we fall into the lovers’ trance,
dreaming the dreams that we share.
And we never miss the chance.
~
With every little kiss,
we’ve a little bit of bliss,
it’s a feeling that we share.
Being sad would be remiss.
~
With every passing day,
we laugh, love, work and play,
we’ve interests that we share.
There can be no better way.
~
With every poem I write,
her presence felt is my light,
it’s the vision that we share.
Then we kiss and say goodnight.

Switching On

Sure to be a better day,
changes planned and underway.
Empty space now filled with life.
Fulfillment felt when no strife.
~
Smiling faces greet each dawn.
Kisses next, for to each we’re drawn.
Nothing’s hidden with mutual love,
between the sheets or above.
~
Chapters end and a new begins,
mourning faces again to grin.
With every day there’s a night,
our forever tomorrow’s forever bright.

Nothing New

Nothing new to report,
there’s still no reason to cavort.
Each day passing feels the same.
Surviving another is the aim.
~
This time inside is wearing thin,
I need some sunshine on my skin.
But like all things this too will pass,
soon we’ll roll in lush green grass.
~
I miss the birds singing in the trees,
my mind now wonders to the open seas.
But I’m not here to just complain,
we’re both well and mostly sane.
~
Happily we’re bound to the end,
for each a lover and a friend.
We gaze into the starlit night.
And tell each other everything’s alright.

Abode Mode Ode

Decisions are made every day.
Stuff gets done just that way.
Leaving a home’s a difficult call.
Finding another is always a haul.
~
Choices are many but few fit the bill.
But we’ll find the one, I know we will.
Something that’s not too small or too big.
And a nice little place for kids to dig.
~
The woods will be great but at least a few trees,
with a spot for flowers for the birds and bees.
Neighbors OK but none is best.
I’m not anti-social but can be a pest.
~
Now thoughts to be thunk and options weighed,
calculations conjured forging a grade.
Results considered but one thing’s for sure.
In love we’ll venture, anywhere secure.

A Perfect Start

I got up nice and early to start the day off right.
It was the perfect start to end a perfect night.
My dreams now have passed and my eyes open wide.
Thoughts of love still linger and the smile I can’t hide.
~
My sweetheart sleeps blissfully as my coffee starts to brew.
The sun gleams with spender and the sky’s a perfect blue.
I’ll wake her soon with a kiss, her body close to mine.
She’ll ask me how I’m feeling. I whisper “with you, always fine”
~
She’ll rise to the sunshine, her eyes glowing bright.
Her face will beam with joy and life is feeling right.
Our day will pass with laughter and love from the heart.
The sunset then boldly welcomes yet another perfect start.

Sanctuary

On the lookout for my last place to dwell,
some were OK, some looked like hell.
Seen a grand old home in a bad part town,
but it was too high and they wouldn’t come down.
~
We saw one so scary, ghosts wouldn’t live there.
I’m picky I know but I think that I’m fair.
My home now is charming; I’ve been here for years.
Saying goodbye I’ll probably shed tears.
~
I’m close to a harbor and a quaint Main street.
My neighbors are close but mostly discrete.
I have no garage and I’d like some land.
I’d prefer something wooded to the beach sand.
~
Though a lakeside retreat would surely be fun,
I’d soon be drowned paying for one.
I’d like something older and properly restored.
I don’t need a hobby cos I’m never bored.
~
I don’t need a compound or a pasture for beasts.
But a barn would be nice to house family feast.
So the search goes on, but I’ve no worries or fright.
It’s like finding true love; you know when it’s right.

Average Poetry

Words can be simple, instructions often not.
Some can build a future, most just forgot.
I claim no bias; I share what’s been seen.
I note what I’ve heard, the answers in between.
~
Not everyone with wealth has money.
Not all are as sweet as honey.
Most work hard and stay in one place.
Some open doors with the smile on their face.
~
While some are truly brilliant, some are not so bright.
Most are simply average, some see the light.
Happiness is free, misery has a cost.
Choose the right direction and never feel lost.
~
I don’t think I’m old, though getting up in years.
I’ve had my share of laughter and shed many tears.
I write every day and I try not to preach.
But to share your love with others nothing’s out of reach.

Multiplicity

My pad today was totally blank,
it’s the bliss I feel I have to thank.
I woke up early to see the sunrise;
the truth was there before my eyes.
~
My darling slumbers peacefully,
her dreams, I’m sure, are with me.
And as the dark turns to light,
I’ve warm thoughts of our cozy night.
~
Seems all the negatives have burned away,
now only pluses fill my day.
I’ll wake her soon and my sun will shine.
I’ll kiss her softly, truly thankful she’s mine.
~
The kisses returned with a smile,
and then we’ll chat and giggle a while.
We’ll both then rise for our day anew.
And we’ll share our bliss, now times two.

Changing Changes

Change is in the air,
it’s felt on the breeze.
The clock quickly ticking,
the wind-up’s been a tease.
~
The future is before us,
experiences behind.
Knowledge fills our heads,
yet we’re truly blind.
~
We’ve hopes for better days,
dreaming of peace and love.
While fearing the unknown,
we seek to rise above.
~
Yesterday’s now gone,
premonition’s premature.
Tomorrows manifest,
yet only now’s for sure.
~
Consistency comforts,
surprises feel strange.
Seconds are our choices,
yet only time will change

Do

Some may think that we’re surely nuts.
And others might think we’re blind.
But all would agree,
life’s much better when intertwined.
~
Some might say that it just can’t be.
While others may say there’s no way.
But all could agree,
our love grows stronger every day.
~
Some may just dismiss it as luck.
While others might feel that we’re blessed.
But all should agree,
what we have is truly the best.

I Know

When sadness pervades a loved one tears flow the miles,
distance becomes time and worry drowns the smiles.
Now every phone call is answered with a pause.
As the words are all the same as is their cause.
~
The tribulation is felt through the air.
The pain is shared with those who care.
Though breaking a heart’s never been a crime,
as all wounds will heal given ample time.
~
There’s now a piece missing and never to return.
And trust, not love, becomes the main concern.
Perhaps agony is just a part of growing.
But sometimes happiness is better than knowing.

Seconds Count

I woke up early and wasted time,
scribbled some words but none that rhyme.
There’s stories told again and again.
And I’ll have another but I know not when.
~
My body rose from a cozy bed.
Thoughts poured from my sleepy head.
But with no order there’s no start.
And with no meaning there is no art.
~
While mindless dribble flows with ease,
like foggy memories of the open seas.
Or of early years spent flat broke,
when thinking time was just a joke.
~
But love was found and a child born.
A father lost and mothers mourn.
Successes found and maturity spurred.
Sickness consumed then depression prospered.
~
The future then seen through the eyes of one.
Oblivion felt and life seemed done.
Years pass by but seconds count.
And to rise again, love’s paramount.

All Right

The day is gray, my mood is bright.
The air is cold but I’ve seen the light.
My darling slumbers, cozy and warm.
Together we’re safe, surviving the storm.
~
With a kiss she’ll awake from a dream.
Our eyes meet and our faces will beam.
The hugging continues meshed as one.
Another day for us has now begun.
~
Time will pass, eventually we’ll rise.
The future’s now clear in our loving eyes.
The dreams of day become the dreams of night.
Our tomorrows the same and that’s all right.
