A poet’s life should bear no stress.
But once a year’s OK, I guess.
It’s the only day that I truly fear.
And Valentine’s Day is growing near.
It’s the only day when something’s expected.
And a bad poem that day may be rejected.
So I show her my love in every way.
She’s awakened to kisses every day.
Flowers not often but she likes the surprise.
I love to see the joy in her eyes.
I tell her she’s lovely, my beautiful queen.
And that she’s the star on my big screen.
Hugs are many and poems not a few.
After all, it’s what I supposedly do.
But today I’m stressed as the day is near.
I expect something special for my beloved dear.
So alone I sit with pencils all ready.
My mind’s jumbled but my hands are steady.
I think of the love she gives to me.
And that she’s the one I long to see.
The hour grows late, now time for a rest.
I’ll awaken tomorrow and be at my best.
I’ll hold her close and nibble her ear.
And I’ll try not to worry about one day a year.
You can make a pile, I’ll make a stack.
You can smile at me and I’ll smile back.
I’ll boil the water, you make the tea.
I’ll blow you a kiss and you blow one to me.
You can pop the popcorn, I’ll melt the butter.
You can hold my hand and make my heartbeats flutter,
I’ll choose the movie, you pick the day.
The next time we’ll switch and both have our way.
I’ll clear the table, you clear the waste.
We can share dessert, I’ll have a taste.
You can say “I love you” and I’ll say it too.
Then we’ll share our futures, both, me and you.
It won’t take long, just a few seconds more;
warmth then felt closing the door.
Your goodbyes will be more tolerable.
Hello’s then much more enjoyable.
So never one kiss, always have two.
That’s one for me and one for you.
Memories then linger and smiles persist.
That’s two for two, who could resist?
Love is: hugs and kisses at the door,
thinking your mate loves you more,
pleasures of both felt by each,
waiting hands always in reach,
arms that hold and squeeze just right,
dozing embraced till the morning light,
discovering beauty with every move,
every song sharing the groove,
time apart passes far too slow,
time together is all systems go,
troubles fade when the other’s near,
smiles continuous with never a tear,
laughter erupts at the littlest of things,
love is the joy that it brings.
The way she laughs, the way she smiles,
the ways that she sees me,
the way she walks, the way she talks,
the ways she helps me see.
The way she looks, the way she feels,
the way she touches me,
the way she kisses and fulfills my wishes,
the way that love should be.
The sun rises to start a new day.
I awoke to a smile beaming my way.
The smile returned with a good morning kiss.
Our day’s now started in good morning bliss.
Work’s to follow and time apart,
but smiles remain because of our start.
Memories flash as the minutes creep by.
I’ll count those seconds till home I’ll fly.
With my head in the clouds, I’ll open the door,
greeted with love by the one I adore.
The sunset we’ll share embraced as one,
our day’s now over and our evening begun.
With the best of friends I could ever find.
Another wonderful evening’s now behind.
Seeing the beauty to others unseen,
plus all the kisses in-between.
Bonds being made to forever treasure.
While tomorrow’s blossom bearing pleasure.
I’m tickled in all the right places.
Smiles burst on glowing faces.
Laughs and giggles, bodies gently caressed.
Tingling consumes, lips say it best.
Simple things make life grand.
Sunset walks holding a loved one’s hand.
Surprise kisses are always a treat.
And a simple smile when again we meet.
I wish to taste a million flavors on your luscious lips.
A million kisses needed between the nibbles and sips.
I wish a millennium for our wishes to come true.
Forever, I wish to savor all the flavors of you.
Morning’s here, no words in view.
Though the day’s young and I’ll think of you.
Thinking of you and the things we do.
Not just sneaking kisses but other things too.
