A Poet’s Desire

~

If I could turn my words into the finest wine

We’d sail on those balmy seas until the end of time

If I could print money on all the paper that I use

Our sky would rain confetti any time you choose

~

If my wishes granted for all that I desire

We’d spent our moonlit evenings cuddled by a fire

If my fantasies could ever be reality

All I’d ever need is for you to be with me.

A Little Proof

The forest is gone where once a home.
A people lost, now destined to roam.
Legends of old speak of their race,
though only of blurs, never a face.
~
Smaller than dwarves, bigger than fairies,
their language mistaken for frantic canaries,
they’re easily missed being so small.
A full grown adult’s barely twelve inches tall.
~
Their numbers blossomed to one hundred per tree.
Nature, their home, they could be no more free.
They chose to stay hidden, out of harm’s way.
The choice wasn’t theirs, they learned the hard way.
~
The giants invaded with axes in hand.
They chopped and cut for towns they had planned.
Centuries have passed and the invasion persists.
The Liluns survived but only few still exist.
~
They still choose to hide and that’s probably good.
As the giants don’t always do as they should.
Their wishes fulfilled at whatever the cost.
This story’s the proof of the many who’ve lost.

Shady Chances

The sun’s yet risen and the wait’s begun.
The weather is miserable and not much fun.
Yet here I stand shivering and wet,
desperately hoping I’ll win this year’s bet.
~
Losers are more than winners by far,
but another day’s wages I slapped on that bar.
Chances we take most every day,
so by this hole I’m going to stay.
~
Just a little sunshine is all it will take,
so I look to the clouds, hoping they’ll break.
Will that big rodent peek from their den?
We all know why but no one knows when.
~
Then out pops a head in search of a treat,
as it’s been a long winter with nothing to eat.
But a shadow was seen, so more winter’s to follow.
Now I’m cold, broke and tired and pride I must swallow.

No Act Play

Our time apart,
let’s call it art,
performed by you and me.

Scenes created,
of time elated,
hearts and minds set free.

Direction’s un-needed,
cos soon you’ll be greeted,
by dreams and wishes we share.

Reality resumes,
our passion consumes,
inhibitions we now dare.

The curtain will close,
the applause still goes
fantasy’s now to start.

The love we’ve made,
is never to fade,
encores we’re always a part.

On Point

Awake to a dream and all of our wishes,
we’ve cuddles and kisses, a hit with the misses.
Good morning my love a new day’s begun.
Let’s rise to new heights and follow the sun.
~
On a breeze we’ll soar and glide evermore,
with stars to guide our fates we’ll explore.
Our views aligned our vision’s ahead,
our eyes on each other and forward we’re led.
~
Laughter we treasure with each new endeavor.
Time on our side our love is forever.
Our evening’s sublime our morning’s delicious,
we’ve cuddles and kisses there are no near misses.

Rainbows and Unicorns

Today I know not what to do.
So I think I’ll try something new.
I’ll color a poem with skies so bright,
with stars that twinkle every night.
~
There’ll be no wars or no hate.
Conflicts solved with just debate.
There’ll be no clocks to dictate time.
There’ll be no violence or any crime.
~
There’ll be no pollution or climate change.
All will be loved, there’ll be no strange.
Peace will be our common goal.
Joy we’ll share from our soul.
~
There’ll be no hunger or disease.
Children will play as they please.
Crayons will be free for everyone.
So let’s get a box and start the fun.

Bird Brains

I woke up early and the sky was gray.
The world’s in turmoil yet I’ve little to say.
But the birds are happy in the mulberry tree.
I can hear them laughing, maybe at me.
~
They see our world from high above,
whether gull, robin or mourning dove.
Their time alive is soaring free,
while looking down on you and me.
~
For if to fly like a bird,
we’d then flock but never herd.
We’d hatch into a nest well made,
free of worry cos no rent’s paid.
~
Just think of the places we could go.
We could fly south before the snow.
We could eat berries, bugs and worms,
pretty much anything that wiggles or squirms.
~
There’d be no alarms or jobs we hate.
We could fly to the stars our very first date.
Then glide back down to a favorite tree.
There we’d rest harmoniously.
~
But we’re not birds and that’s a shame.
Our lives are grounded and mostly tame.
But if to wish on this day that’s gray,
I’d poop on those who stand in the way.
~
So maybe my wish is not about birds.
It’s about people I think are turds,
those who’ve prevented a world of peace,
for you and me and a gaggle of geese.

Blinkered

Blinked and missed the rainbow,
tripped and missed the fall.
I slid right into winter,
waited for spring to call.
~
I didn’t hear the ring,
so I put on my old snow boots.
I tiptoed out the door,
everybody’s picking fruits.
~
I check to see the time,
but I see my watch is lost.
I wish to start life over,
can’t imagine what’s the cost.
~
Forward I must go,
eyes now open wide.
I may be but half-witted,
but at least half is on my side.

Broken Arrow

A healer of wounds or point to maim,
cupids draw’s reluctant of aim.
Bow’s untied but the bind pains,
the arrow pulled but the blood remains.
~
I close my eyes and the future’s blurred.
I call her name but none is heard.
I feel her touch when I’m alone.
A smile returned no longer shown.
~
My head still turns tho now a twist.
My heart still beats tho now half missed.
And this Valentines I wish not to start,
for a hole filled makes not a whole heart.

The Poem of Ours

Our hearts beat ever louder,
yet our minds at total ease.
We share a common wish,
for each other we will please.
~
Our dream’s now fulfilled,
or we’ve yet to wake.
Our love grows ever stronger,
with every breath we take.
~
Our life’s now complete,
the puzzle now is done.
Our pieces fit together,
our time has now begun.
~
Our arms reach out to hold,
our lips find their way.
Our eyes see only one,
and all’s a sunny day.

Forced in Space

The earth is but a pebble,
yet it’s so much more.
We wake there every morning,
this we know for sure.
~
It hurtles through our galaxy,
yet we’re standing still.
We can try to fly away,
but we never will.
~
If we were to leave,
where could we go?
The sky gives many choices,
but an answer we’ll never know.
~
Our minds were made to question,
but time’s our only clue.
If we could not think,
what then would we do?
~
Would we then survive,
living like bugs or beasts?
Could we ever imagine,
lives without its feasts?
~
Or would we just devolve,
returning to mere dust?
The cosmos our destination,
where the unknown we’re then thrust.
~
Our pebble we’d then follow,
attracted by its force,
Our lives would then not matter,
unless we changed our course.

Always Time

The clouds clearing, the sun is felt.
My icy heart has begun to melt.
Love has warmed, time to grow.
A kiss awaits this I know.
~
My future slumbers, I quietly rise.
Starlight twinkles in my eyes.
The mirror greets a smiling face.
The fog’s lifted without a trace.
~
Her day will start with a hug.
She’ll pull me closer, nice and snug.
A plan we’ll make for another day.
But in this moment we’ll always stay.

Really Hoping

I really wish you could stay awhile.
I really do love the way you smile.
I love the way you walk and talk;
I really do love your style.
~
I love the way you touch my hand.
I love the way you take command.
I really do love our time together,
whether on sea, air or land.
~
I’d love to tell you what I think.
And the way I feel when you wink.
I’d love to hear all your thoughts,
really hoping we’re both in sync.

Wish No Squish

Another year’s gone by too fast.
But the birthday stress now has past.
I had too much cake and coffee too,
had a party and stepped in poo.
~
Perhaps an omen or maybe not,
or a reminder of things forgot.
Crappy stuff happens every day.
And we often slip along the way.
~
Yesterday being our only prep,
surprises await with every step.
Life can stink as we all know,
but sometime wrapped with a bow.
~
My shoes now scraped, no damage done.
My time ahead I’ll wish for fun.
I won’t let aging make me sad,
the alternative being really bad.

True or False

Only a life lived will tell,
who has risen and who fell.
Dreams awaken tomorrow’s path.
Dread assures the futures wrath.
~
Steps taken will get us there.
Impressions left will choose where.
Truth defies the doubts to grow.
Lies define the trust we know.
~
Actions sought will force an end.
Patience found will easily mend.
Seconds wasted will compound.
Time invested will come around.
~
Hate will fester another day.
Love will always find a way.
And wishes will come true.
But the will is up to you.

Let’s

The harder one works the easier it gets.
The grosser it is the more one nets.
The less you gamble the safer the bets.
Jackpots may allude but so will regrets.
~
All that glitters not gold, like sunsets.
The more thought is less the debts.
The higher the notes the wider one frets.
The more down the more upsets.
~
The more learned the less one forgets.
The more tolerance is less threats.
Climbs less long the more one jets.
Couples always pair but never sets.
~
The more the better never abets.
The more lost the more one sweats.
Appetites appeased the more one wets.
The more prepared is the less not yets.
~
If all could love all, we’d all be pets.
And if all loved forever, we’d all be vets.
From the onset there’s no a preset or resets.
There’s only mindsets and begets.
~
After all, the world is just half duets.
So let’s all play well together, yes lets.

Spaceshots

A coal fired space force; I hear is in the works.
A test flight’s needed, let’s send some jerks.
It can be its creator with lil Mikey by his side.
I’ll gladly pack lunch for their long ride.
Cozy in their ark, endlessly they’ll float.
Lost in space, the pair can forever gloat.

None Amiss

It was a rainy night at the beach.
Wishing a walk but out of reach.
The sun set, the stars slept.
The moon hid and the clouds wept.

The quiet masked in crashing seas.
And a little chill rides the breeze.
Yet warmth’s felt hand in hand.
Memories tickle of toes in the sand.

The nights wish changed when we kissed.
The stars will return, tonight unmissed.
