Glad Sad

I haven’t written much of late, my brain has been askew.
I search the news constantly seeking something new.
The summer is upon us and the birds sing with glee.
I’m not sure if they’re happy or just teasing you and me.
~
While we were trapped inside the wildlife had its way.
But soon we’ll be back out and ruin their perfect day.
The roads were nearly empty with few planes overhead.
The plants bloomed on schedule and the animals all well fed.
~
Their air was a bit cleaner and the noise was nearly nil.
And while they frolicked peacefully we tested our will.
This poem is nearly over as I watch the cars pass by.
I’m glad we’re almost normal now but for the animals I will cry.

Wishful Springing

A little note wishing all a happy spring,
it’s time for rebirth and the joy it brings.
Days grow warmer with sunshine long.
Mornings greeted with nature’s song.
~
Birds and bees awe with their aerial dance.
Colors blossom and the scents of flora enhance.
A new world beckons and eyes gleam.
Hearts thaw and minds again dream.

Wordplay

From the loins of lions a kitten roars.
With tender purrs love’s yours.
When all’s safe peacefully snores,
all’s warm when all adores.
~
Tummies tickled rolled on floors,
time entwined never bores.
Gentle licks on all fours,
lap thrust emotion soars.
~
Hunger’s fed the nibble cures.
Partners always there’s never chores,
when all’s open no settling scores.
From the loins of lions, a winner of wars.

Christmas Free

The holidays upon us,
I’ve yet to get a tree.
Am I a Grinch or a Scrooge?
Cos I think they should be free.
~
I look out my windows,
there’s plenty there to see.
I could hang some balls.
That’s good enough for me.
~
But the kid’s home soon,
she’ll want a tree.
She’ll get a sad little one;
it’ll be cheap but not quite free.
~
We’ll place it by the window,
decorated for all to see.
Christmas we’ll exchange gifts,
the best one’s free for me.

A Beautiful Day

~~~
With bay breezes to call our own,
we savored the scents of flora unknown.
We explored a “cottage” of comfort and beauty,
though none as splendid as the beauty with me.
With green eyes glowing and blonde hair flowing,
hand in hand our two hearts knowing.
We’ve art and nature and the joy it brings,
a victrola played and to me she sings.
Little Things
~
We’ve walks in the wood and strolls on Main Street.
Our times hand in hand are always a treat.
We’ve snuggled close many a night at the beach.
Our windows foggy, but horizon’s in reach.
We’ve sat at home with the music down low.
Our lips in sync to the songs we both know.
We’ve woke to mornings wishing to never end.
Our moments magnified when a lover’s a friend.
New Frontier
Another sun rose, words yet to appear.
Birds chirping happily, their voices I can’t hear.
My darling soon awoken, my hearts full of cheer.
Life filling silence sounds to me so dear.
Another morning passes, writing is unclear.
Returning soon it may, or maybe many a year.
I thought I wrote with pencil, I guess it’s with my ear.
Now another day’s calling, time to get in gear.
Joys Enjoyed
We’ve seen our baby’s first steps and the fall that stings.
There have been tiny kittens and balls of string,
children’s laughter on the backyard swing.
And a pouncing puppy with a new chew ring.
We’ve heard fledglings learn from mom to sing.
Felt the love of another, forever to cling.
Saw young gulls afloat on untested wings.
Now to enjoy joys again with all the joy you bring.
Salivating
~
Magicians, Beauticians or a nuclear technician;
Waiters all are we in this timely transition,
waiting from birth for sublime justification,
resting eternally with cosmic salvation.
Lying in wait for a future incarnation,
floating high with delicious damnation,
blatantly we borrow for ageless hibernation.
But the past is now for a next generation.
Perfect Ends Perfect Beginnings
A Sunday sunset burst in pastel haze
fading slowly into violets and grays.
Dazed, a pink moon rose in celestial majesty.
This world now out shined for all to see.
Climbing silently over old roofs with leaks,
over the gables of ages and chimney peaks.
In blackness spires spied from the grave.
Leafless limbs shatter this image to save.
A puffy patchwork lace glows with absorption.
Wavy glazing enhances with its distortion.
Betwixt this web our phloxen orb floats higher.
Distance retreats time forward, we both tire.
Starlight dreams swap this rare focal storm.
Spring’s now vaulted into the nightly norm.
Urban Renewal
*
A northern shade a northern mill
Prospering times growing still
Bell towers boarded, time to kill
Cracks abound, pigeon’s shrill
Divisions divide buds as before
Docks and bays and wavy floor
Doors or windows less not more
Sky’s above all’s for sure
Light shines down space to fill
Earth’s breaking at its will
Rain quenches drenching poor
Life returns to green and cure
