Habitual Ritual

From dreams inspired overnight,
her morning poem I long to write.
I wake at dawn feeling bliss,
thinking first of the day’s first kiss.
~
The kiss returned and we snuggle close.
Our ritual’s begun with a timely dose.
Her touch is felt from head to toe.
I love you shared and feelings grow.
~
Our room brightens, the future’s new.
The sun wakes to skies of blue.
I hold her close till dreams return.
I then rise with none to yearn.
~
Passion flows and coffee brews.
Words perk from flavors to choose.
Visions recalled, emotions poured.
Ink boils from the one adored.
~
Shadows dance to a beating heart.
Her eyes open to another start.
Another day filled with love and bliss.
Another ode welcomed with a kiss.

Finding Love, Giving Thanks

Love is found in the morning light.
Memories fresh of bonds made last night.
The outside hidden beyond the windows glaze.
In the starlight into her eyes I gaze.
~
Whispers felt between kisses heard.
Touch’s spoken without a word.
Breathing heavy and lips explore.
Skin is soft and the feeling’s pure
~
Worries fade, this world’s alright.
A kiss on her shoulder concludes the night.
Heartbeats slow and eyelids weigh.
Goodnight my love, thanks for today.

Shades

Another day, another time,
what will be tomorrows rhyme?
A rocky past has taken its toll.
Still wonderful people surround my soul.

My head still filled with uncertainty.
And always will be, but that’s just me.
My words fill pages no one will see.
Pencils get shorter, I wish they were free.

Another day, another time,
life’s hard while dreams sublime.
My heart’s thawing from winters long.
My eyes see both right and wrong.

Moments are filled with surprise.
Youth traded becoming wise.
To question this is wiser still.
The time will come, I know it will.

Another rainbow in shades of gray,
another time, another day!

Blithering

I sang a song never to be heard,
told a story that’s truly absurd.
Drew a picture no one’s ever seen.
Often I think of what could have been.
~
My mind’s made up to not get down.
I stand on my head when I frown.
I laughed at pain, tears I bled,
walked on air that I’ve been fed.
~
Money burns holes in pockets I’ve had.
Pant less I now go, never broke or sad.
Backwards I walk to not get old.
The future’s unknown, the past I’m sold.
~
Someday I’ll die, a party there’ll be.
Bring a date and slow dance with me.
Mark your calendar, I don’t know when.
But normal we all can be, until then.

Writing Time

I woke this morning to a bright sunny day.
There’s a chill in the air, but that’s OK.
I had a good rest and that’s something new.
But when I check the news I’m sure to feel blue.
~
While writing this poem today I had a novel thought.
I’ll skip the news for now and feel much less fraught.
I’m not irresponsible because I really do care.
I just need some time to live without the fear.
~
My hair is turning gray, but that could be just age.
The time comes for all to turn another page.
A chapter’s surely ending and a new one will begin.
But will it be a tome or a volume very thin?
~
Time will surely pass as it always does.
Will we seek tomorrows or the way it was?
Our story’s now converged, edits now have past.
The final word is ours but we’d better make it fast.

Ambiguity

Tomorrow’s poem might be my best.
It could be different from all the rest.
I have some ideas I’d like to share.
I’m just not sure if you’ll care.
~
The title for it I can’t decide.
But I’ll be searching far and wide.
I’m pretty sure it will rhyme.
As they do most of the time.
~
It may be funny with sad mixed in.
It could have numbers, they make me grin.
I have no end or much of a start.
When it’s done I hope it’s art.
~
Beginnings are somewhere, this might be it.
But if it’s not I don’t care one bit.
I’ll choose my words carefully, as you can see.
Cos I can’t be sure what’ll come out of me.
~
That sounds bad; maybe I’ll edit that out.
When something’s good there’s usually no doubt.
It’s time to go, but this chat’s been fun.
I’ll see you tomorrow with perhaps a better one.

For Sure

I’m not sure of the time,
or the day of the week.
I’m not certain that I hear,
or that I even speak.
~
It seems that I can see,
as the words become more clear.
I’m sure that I can feel,
as I live in constant fear.
~
I’m probably indecisive,
then again maybe not.
I’d like to think I think,
but unfortunately not a lot.
~
Uncertainty is a problem;
it’s something we all share.
I’m not sure you agree,
I’m not sure that I care.
~
There is one thing I do know,
this poem is nearly done.
I’m not sure what comes next,
but the future has begun.

Time’s Key

~*~

The future’s key

To wind the clock

That tells the time

To ring the bell

That wakes us up

To see the light

That opens eyes

To open minds

That opens arms

To feel the heat

That two hearts share

To beat as one

That makes the love

To turn the hands

That makes the time

To spend with you

That turns the key

To move time forward

That’s forever yours

One of Those (many) Days

Ever have a day when nothing goes right?
You get up late from a sleepless night.
The gray surrounds with no refrain.
The day’s chilly with dreary rain.
.
Inhale some eggs with runny yolks.
Now running behind but out of smokes,
detoured to the store to buy some more.
Rush to work, tip toe through the door.
.
But the boss is there, bad news had.
A report’s disappeared, computer’s bad.
The day runs long, no time for lunch.
Tomorrow’s the same, I’ve a hunch.
.
Then finally home but all alone.
Heat’s off and chilled to the bone.
Boiler’s ready, thermostat’s not.
Batteries needed that I forgot.
.
Hunger’s remembered, cupboards bare.
Cereal found, no milk to spare,
so half a box will have to do.
Nights half over, I’m glad it’s through.

The Write Time

I’ve done lots of things.
But I haven’t done them all.
There’s still much to do.
And my list isn’t small.
~
My time’s growing short.
My energy’s sinking fast.
But I’ll never quit,
as long as I can last.
~
Dawn will start my days.
I’ll survive a wingsuit flight.
Languages I’ll learn.
And songs I’d love to write.
~
I’ll sail all the seas.
But that’s gonna take a while.
For now, smaller goals,
today I’ll share some smiles.

It’s True, It’s True

Our day apart has yet to start,
already I’m missing you.
I woke at dawn with a stretch and yawn,
my morning looking blue.
~
Alone I sit, reminiscing a bit,
thinking of the things we do.
We talk and smile and hug a while,
then kiss an hour or two.
~
My watch I spy with a longing eye,
wishing this day was through.
The feelings clear that you’re my dear,
you make each minute new.
~
Awake I dream a subconscious stream,
my world comes in view.
Silently I sing of the joy you bring,
thankful our love is true.

I Will

I will be your king,
If you will be my queen.
I will be your tour guide;
we’ll go places never seen.
~
I will be your army,
when foes stand in your way.
I will be your lover,
each and every day.
~
I will be your soulmate,
holding you when you’re blue.
I will make you laugh,
it’s what best friends do.
~
I will be your everything,
we’ll never want for none.
We’ll share our tomorrows,
baby lets have our fun.

Day 12 ~ Supercalaplagiarizticandishouldknowbetterohsheesh

I got a writer’s block vacation journal rolled up in my pocket.
I got seven sharp new pencils.
But I know some still mock’em.
I don’t use a pen for fear that I’ll lose it.
I’m a caffeine charged frazzled poet.
And I do it all for you.
~
I got a Led Zeppelin record and I know you want to hear it.
A 3D diorama, I spend my time in it.
I got a writer’s block vacation journal rolled up in my pocket.
I thought I had some good ideas.
But I gave’em all to you
I gave’em all to you…

Opinions

Once in a lifetime can be just that,
often missed because we sat.
Legs propel as does time,
mediocrity’s chosen as is sublime.
~
Life’s meaning is what we make,
creative thought is no mistake.
Opinions are found all around,
ramifications we are bound.
~
It’s better to give than to loan.
Happiness shared sets the tone.
Once in a lifetime is every day.
Rise to the occasion, make it your way.
~
When brains and hearts work as one,
when each a say the work is done.
Confident in our choices made,
perpetual harmony to never fade.
~
Though just a theory, I feel sure,
love and trust is the only cure.
But opinions are found all around;
as we’ve heard only some are sound.

The Fix

It’s time once again for my daily catharsis.
I started late so it’ll be hit or miss.
I’ve nothing planned or grand inspiration,
none but to quench my daily fixation.
~
The day’s review is well underway.
Mind’s full of notes and the music does play.
My pencil does lure with infinite grace.
Time can be rewritten but we cannot erase.
~
Life though seemingly unpredictable,
conclusions often contradictable,
our tomorrow’s impossible to comprehend.
But tonight I can write a happy end.

Could

This poem today could be my last.
Seems all my worries now are past.
Grief all-around still gets me down.
But a man in love can’t wear a frown.
~
This world’s not always a happy place.
Misery’s seen on many a face.
I’ve seen death and felt the pain.
Years have passed to find I’m sane.
~
My feelings spewed on sheets galore.
Forever I searched for an exit door.
Though light trickled through cracks unseen,
time now as bright as it’s ever been.
~
In a warm embrace I now awake.
If given a wish I’d none to make.
But a dream remains of peace on earth.
So write I must for what it’s worth.

~*~
SCK120919

Endless

Life no longer matters when we’re cold and dead.
Words have no meaning when stuck inside our head.
Heartache is abundant; it’s filled many a book.
But happiness exists, but only when we look.
~
Depression is alarming but seldom makes a sound.
Time can be our friend but only when we’re wound.
Surprises are unexpected and nothing’s ever free.
Love is everlasting but two must agree.
~
Share yourself with others and they will do the same.
Hide your true emotions and only you’re to blame.
Strangers often meet but not all will be a friend.
So if you find the right one, show them there’s no end.

Forever Fine

In the morning cool the mind is clear.
Thoughts are pure and free to share.
Daily troubles still faraway,
evening memories I wish to stay.
~
Solace is found in the arms of another.
The world’s problems no longer smother.
Gentle kisses give way to sleep.
Evening memories I’ll surely keep.
~
The sun will rise and then to set.
Work consumes, but no regret.
The moon will shine on a love that’s mine.
Evening memories, forever fine.
