Carved in Stone

wickford cove

We’ve dinner on the bay.
The sunset’s on its way.
Evening spent at home,
a page of our life’s tome.
.
I’ve visions of our time,
I write for you in rhyme.
Words I present to you,
to show my love is true.
.
You’re always on my mind,
because you’re sweet and kind.
Your smile lets me know,
that our love will grow.
.
Your touch warms my heart.
Each day’s a brand new start.
And when this day does end,
a sonnet I shall send.
.
These poems that I share,
is to show you that I care.
These words that you read,
is to know your love I need.

The Seed

~

Colors of autumn, death’s in bloom.

Return to the earth, the seeds’ final tomb,

nourishing yet another season.

We’re all guests of earth for this reason.

~

And thus the surety of life;

prosperity, mediocrity or strife.

All to return to where once came,

regardless of misfortune or fame.

~

For life is but a lesson –

throughout our mortal existence.

A test of our bodies, minds

and hearts persistence.

~

We’re all creatures of the same seed.

Return to the earth, our souls freed.

So let us not perceive death an end –

simply a new life to transcend.

~

For death is the exploration

of dimensions unknown.

And thus the destiny of the seed-

Grown

In the Clear

I feel it coming, there’s a change in the air.
It’s not the weather but the life we share.
Change comes fast as we both know.
Time rushes forward, how can we go slow.
~
Love’s rained down and nourished are we.
Growth awaits and soon we’ll see.
Our love’s matured and now’s to bloom.
Our futures found and now’s to groom.
~
Falls may chill and winters freeze.
But now we’re free to do as we please.
A calming breeze has blown our way.
We’re now to be sun kissed every day.

Hopeful Beginnings

The first day of life starts today.
If there’s a second I can’t say.
So today I’m gonna do my best,
I’ll eat some veggies and get my rest.
~
I’ll smile at every passerby.
I’ll say hello and wave goodbye.
I’ll give my love some extra kisses.
I’ll try my hardest to fulfill her wishes.
~
I’ll write a poem that brings folk’s joy.
I’ll use all the tricks magicians employ.
I’ll write something funny and something sweet.
I’ll go upstairs soon and tickle some feet.
~
I’ll nibble some toes and lick some knees.
I’ll massage some thighs if I please.
I’ll whisper “I love you” in waiting ears.
And hope this first day lasts for years.

Nature’s Gift

It’s been a while since I spoke of love,
that precious gift sent from above.
It fills our days with joy and bliss.
Thoughts consumed with our next kiss.
~
Eyes will open to a brand new day,
life is perfect, come what may.
Souls awakened with a simple glance.
Dreams are lived with our romance.
~
Passion exudes on your smiling face.
Troubles evaporate without a trace.
Tomorrow’s welcomed, as are more.
If a lion I’d surely roar.
~
If a kitten I’d loudly purr,
wishing to play and they’d concur.
I’ve said enough, at least, for now.
But there’ll be more, this I vow.

Lyrically Loopy

It begins a story without an end.
It’s a tale untold but it will be penned.
There may be no heroes or villains to see.
It could be written for you or me.
~
It might be a song or poetry.
It may be undervalued but never free.
It could be too short but can’t be too long.
Perspectives vary between right and wrong.
~
While some chapters weak others will be strong.
Some may possibly rise above the throng.
Some parts will be happy, some will be sad.
There will always be both but that’s not so bad.
~
Note always the things that make you glad.
Notice the trends that aren’t just a fad.
Honest words lived you’ll need never defend.
And when the cover closes you will transcend.

Forced in Space

The earth is but a pebble,
yet it’s so much more.
We wake there every morning,
this we know for sure.
~
It hurtles through our galaxy,
yet we’re standing still.
We can try to fly away,
but we never will.
~
If we were to leave,
where could we go?
The sky gives many choices,
but an answer we’ll never know.
~
Our minds were made to question,
but time’s our only clue.
If we could not think,
what then would we do?
~
Would we then survive,
living like bugs or beasts?
Could we ever imagine,
lives without its feasts?
~
Or would we just devolve,
returning to mere dust?
The cosmos our destination,
where the unknown we’re then thrust.
~
Our pebble we’d then follow,
attracted by its force,
Our lives would then not matter,
unless we changed our course.

Time for Time-Out

timeoutimg002

Time for time-out it’ll end soon.

Dug in the yard with mom’s good spoon.

She’s had it since her wedding day.

Used just for holidays, not play.

*

I said that it was shaped just right,

to dig a trench where armies can fight.

Needs to be deep but not too wide.

Had to dig fast so they can hide.

*

Buried far down just like a tomb.

Guarding treasure found in your room.

Found in a box high on a chest.

It’s the booty pirates like best.

*

I must protect those shiny things:

chains, charms, bracelets, baubles and rings.

Hid them good, remembered the map.

But then forgot after my nap.

*

To help me dig I found a pet.

The best digger there is I’ll bet.

Finished our yard then went next door.

Found nothing, ran off to dig more.

*

Chased our cat high up in the tree.

Grandma called the police for me.

Her nurse had to help make the call.

The police came, that isn’t all.

*

While chasing his dog that I found,

the man fell from holes in the ground.

He said he’ll sue, just wait and see.

I said it was his dog, not me.

*

His face was red, limping away.

But grandma’s heart will be okay.

And I have some more good news.

While digging today, I wore no shoes.

*

They’re nice and clean and tucked away.

I’ll try no pants some other day.

Though mess was made with my bare feet,

I cleaned it up with hose and sheet.

*

Pushed all the water out the door.

Then to your room, I cleaned some more.

Too bad the hose didn’t quite reach.

I luckily then found the bleach.

*

You’ll smile when you turn on the light.

I know you like things clean and white,

with spots of color here and there.

You’ll surely hug your little dear.

*

I’m glad you’re home early today.

Don’t believe what the neighbors say.

The rescue came, Dad’s all right.

Not much pain, he’ll wake by tonight.

*

Go to the doctor, I’ll just wait.

I’ll be good and won’t stay up late.

I missed lunch; I’ll make us a snack.

Fix the chair dad broke with his back.

*

He climbed too high to find his keys,

lost his balance from wobbly knees.

I found some socks to wrap dad’s head.

Then found soldiers under my bed.

*

Recalled the mission to be done.

Ran downstairs to start the fun.

Found no spoons not already bent.

But then found yours and out I went.

*

And that’s where my story began.

Now come sit close mom, hold my hand.

I know that time-outs hurt you too.

But when it’s done I’ll still love you.

*

The End

Scheduling Surprises

I enjoy getting up early to watch the sun rise.
I like to see the darkness turn to bright blue skies.
I try to write each morning when my head is truly clear.
The words come from someplace but I don’t know where.
~
I haven’t written a love poem since I don’t know when.
Of course I’m still in love, more than I was then.
But I can’t control my pencil, it might be controlling me.
Because when the paper fills, I can hardly wait to see.
~
I’m hoping for a love poem that I can share today.
I’ll wake my darling soon and “I love you” I will say.
I’d love to read her poem while she sips her morning brew.
And the kisses that come after is all I want to do.
~
Perhaps it’s just a phase or these crazy times we’re in.
But it seems like a long time since I made my sweetheart grin.
I see this page is filling and a love poem it’s not quite.
But there will be tomorrows, then a poem for her I’ll write.

Mind Body Soul

A dream lucid, vivid and in 3D,
my arms reach out, she’s there for me.
Adoring eyes gaze my way,
the gaze returned every day.
~
Hands touching, skin tingling,
bodies quiver and whispers mingling.
Lips breathing life into a tired soul,
a renaissance shared my only goal.
~
Her glowing smile warms my heart;
love’s felt embraced or apart.
And with our last kiss goodnight,
my only wish is my morning light.

Sweet Dreams

I’ll dream us a dream much better than good.
A dream we’ll dream as we should.
A dream we’ll dream every day.
The stars wouldn’t have it any other way.
~
We’ll awake each day to dreamy eyes.
The sun will shine through the grayest of skies.
Our dream will live on as it should.
Our lives will be much better than good.

Always Time

The clouds clearing, the sun is felt.
My icy heart has begun to melt.
Love has warmed, time to grow.
A kiss awaits this I know.
~
My future slumbers, I quietly rise.
Starlight twinkles in my eyes.
The mirror greets a smiling face.
The fog’s lifted without a trace.
~
Her day will start with a hug.
She’ll pull me closer, nice and snug.
A plan we’ll make for another day.
But in this moment we’ll always stay.

To Be Continued

I love you” can’t convey these feelings inside.
As the ocean’s deep at moon tide,
or the grandest of canyons forever wide,
my feelings swell and will never subside.
~
In your eyes I see a world that’s new.
From your lips I feel what’s true.
In your hands I’m stuck like glue.
Our bodies entwined, the moments too few.
~
My thought’s now calm and crystal clear.
The future awaits and we have no fear.
Time is ours and Oh what cheer.
Words never ending for the love I hold dear.

Nothing’s for Sure, For Sure

Fire on the horizon, a new day’s underway.
But this day is different, people are home to stay.
The stores are nearly empty, confusion fills the space.
Traffic’s surely lacking when nowhere left to race.
~
There are lines at the gun shop, an armored petri-dish,
Some will shoot their mouths off, some might get their wish.
Sickness fills our minds while numbers fill our eyes.
Panic’s sure to follow dissecting truth from lies.
~
Money is an issue, sure to bring more pain.
Deviants soon will pounce hoping they will gain.
Time now stands still, waiting for relief.
For some that time will come, for others just more grief.
~
Death tolls surely rising, we each just wait to see.
Who will wake tomorrow, who will be set free.
But today the sun has risen, for all another start.
A cure will be forthcoming, but for now we’ve just our heart.
~
The time is now to reassess and take stock of our needs.
The spring is upon us, let’s plant some better seeds.
Growth is sure to come, though different than the past.
The world is now much smaller, let’s make the goodwill last.

A Pain in the Next

I must be hell bent for pain,
am I a fool or just insane?
My head’s in the clouds, hearts on my sleeve.
A feeling love I feel will relieve.

What an idiot I must be,
thinking love will set me free.
Past love’s brought happiness and hurt.
The last threw me to the dirt.

What kind of jerk am I?
After weeks and weeks wishing to die,
I remain hell bent for the pain.
What’s a little agony when heavens to gain?

Change’s the Same

My little town is changing,
the old folks are moving away.
Little kids are moving back,
now there’s screaming every day.
~
The houses too are changing,
paint jobs have gone awry.
Gone the regard for history,
the zip code is now the why.
~
Perhaps I too am changing,
my future being soon elsewhere.
While life forever changes,
what remains was always there.

Word

My word for the day is unforthcoming.
The results of which have got me bumming.
Its meaning is clear and so apropos.
I need to write but I’ve lost the flow.
~
People I ask are too unforthcoming.
The guesses they make are all unbecoming.
Or they just shrug and say “I don’t know”.
My patience then reaches another plateau.
~
The future’s events remain unforthcoming.
Yet my wordy obsession is clearly mind numbing.
I’ve planted this seed that now I must sow.
I’ve felt the drought and now I must grow.
~
Though this poem’s end is still unforthcoming,
my mood’s improving, soon I’ll be humming.
But to not get too stressed I’ll take it real slow,
so if not today then surely tomorrow.

Trying

The harder I try, the harder it seems,

I’ve wasted much, reams and reams.

I’ve tried writing of infinity but couldn’t find an end.

Tried to write of society though I couldn’t offend.

~

I tried to write of death, can’t write in the dark.

Tried writing of youth but lost the spark.

Scribbled of sorrow, tears cleansed the sheets.

Dribbled of conquest but I had no feats.

~

I tried to write of time, that didn’t last.

Wrote of the future, thought of the past.

I’ve written coldly until my lips turned blue.

So I wrote of warmth and penned volumes for you.

~

My heart’s now thawed, boiling blood rises to brain.

Bleeding emotion doesn’t have to cause pain.

A trying life’s journey is what’s inked of late.

Perhaps it is now I’m writing of fate.

Rekindling

Amiss the spark that kindles slight

Drowned ablaze in airless fright

Volumes of ash on which to write

Cloaked in smoky forever night

Darkness fogs the wearies sight

Blinding jabs will lose the fight

Gentle touch soothes body’s plight

Awake to arms, hearth burns bright

Rejoice to stars and cool of night

Fires of light and warmth burn right

Colors return from black and white

Rekindled flame of two hearts delight

Sparks anew on celestial flight

The End
