Hot and Cold Memories

We all walked to school without a care.
We stopped at the store with pennies to share.
Cats and dogs always ran free.
Trees were claimed by them and me.
~
We rode our bikes like we were all nuts.
Our hands and knees came home with cuts.
Bikes had brakes most of the time,
or slowed by sneakers covered in grime.
~
Any spot with grass was called a yard.
We swam in places with no lifeguard.
Snowballs were made no matter the cost.
We wore socks on our hands when gloves were lost.
~
We all had to fight every once in a while.
Our moms would yell but dads would smile.
Rooms were shared and sometimes beds,
smelly feet tickling their brother’s heads.
~
Then junior high came and we had to change.
Our hair grew long and our clothes got strange.
Many smoked cigarettes and other stuff.
There were lots of choices but enough was enough.
~
Childhood then ended and the troubles began.
When the problems started most of us ran.
Some now have passed; some did well,
but all fondly remembered though it was hell.

Tomorrows Start Today

The morning’s young, the night is past.
The time is now but it’s going fast.
Awaken now from your peaceful rest.
Today’s the day to start your quest.
~
Risen with the sun all will grow.
Though paths oft long, journey’s often slow.
With eyes toward the future, feet on the ground,
heart beats guide to destinations found.
~
Relish each moment without delay.
Thanks to be given along the way.
Share the joy with all you meet.
Tomorrows, then we’ll gladly greet.

Conflux

Tomorrow’s here and faraway.
Yesterday’s done yet here to stay.
Life, it seems, seems to move on,
seemingly endless until it’s gone.
~
Forward we tread to catch the wave,
treading water into the grave.
Thoughts consumed, distraction prevails.
Future plans are always heads or tails.
~
Missteps many, disappointments abound.
A fool sought is easily found.
But today is now and now I know.
Today’s the day I must grow.
~
Try I must to try much more.
Life’s our purpose not a chore.
The fool I’ll be if not to persist.
Get with the flow or the flow gets missed.

Blooming

~*~
Familiar ground or faraway lands,
there’s sunset’s together holding hands.
Then warm embraces when times seem right,
till the days last kiss with every goodnight.

Our times of joy always more joyful,
while times of sloth simply delightful.
We’ll share our laughter and our sorrows.
We’ll delight in our today’s and tomorrows.

We can do and be what we both dream.
We’ll build new lives as none have seen.
Though the formula needed I do not know.
Yet when seeds planted time does grow.

In the Clear

I feel it coming, there’s a change in the air.
It’s not the weather but the life we share.
Change comes fast as we both know.
Time rushes forward, how can we go slow.
~
Love’s rained down and nourished are we.
Growth awaits and soon we’ll see.
Our love’s matured and now’s to bloom.
Our futures found and now’s to groom.
~
Falls may chill and winters freeze.
But now we’re free to do as we please.
A calming breeze has blown our way.
We’re now to be sun kissed every day.

Always Time

The clouds clearing, the sun is felt.
My icy heart has begun to melt.
Love has warmed, time to grow.
A kiss awaits this I know.
~
My future slumbers, I quietly rise.
Starlight twinkles in my eyes.
The mirror greets a smiling face.
The fog’s lifted without a trace.
~
Her day will start with a hug.
She’ll pull me closer, nice and snug.
A plan we’ll make for another day.
But in this moment we’ll always stay.

Heeding in a New Direction

Good day to all and Happy New Year.
The time is now to persevere,
so out with the old and in with the new.
After all that’s all we can do.
~
While some woke hung-over some are well rested.
This day is new and soon we’ll be tested.
We’ve made resolutions, some we’ll forget.
Mistakes we’ve made and some we’ll regret.
~
Let’s rise above and all stand up tall.
Another chance is now given to all.
Its day number one, a new start begins.
Let’s heed our losses and embrace our wins.

In The Sow

Once upon a time,
I sat down to rhyme.
But the words just wouldn’t flow.
So I stood for a while,
I tried to smile.
But my face didn’t choose to go.
~
So I threw down my pen,
I said never again.
Never again I’ll seek to know!
I then sulked for a bit,
resisting a fit.
I didn’t want to put on a show.
~
Then I looked around twice,
saw everything was nice.
And I crouched down ever so slow.
While paying no mind,
I fell on my behind.
Embarrassment was mostly the blow.
~
Though just a stupid gaffe,
it kinda made me laugh.
Then again I began to grow.

The Leaves We Read

We sometime get what we want.
We sometime get what we need.
Sometimes both are satisfied.
That’s when we truly succeed.
*
When wants and needs are met,
hearts and minds are freed.
When time and space align,
growth assured for the seed.

No Falls in Sight

Our summer’s now near to end.
Joy’s found with a new best friend.
Autumns turn we’re soon to see.
And together closer we will be.

The winter warmed when we did meet.
Spring blossomed, our feelings grew sweet.
The future’s unknown.
But seasons have shown.

Our time’s vibrant, never gray.
And our love shines brighter each new day.

Morning Triku #164 ~ Fine Lines

***

Perspective’s the Point

Renaissance people
love and share to forever grow,
rebirth’s far too slow.

***

Ills to Frills

Hate kills and love thrills.
Words will chill with fiery quills.
Never still pays bills.

***

YOU’RE FIRED!

Hatred in the heart
cedes peace to heat in the head,
when one dies, two dead.

A Kinder Garden

Babies bounce, wiggle and giggle
They’ll toddle together all day
Until the first steps out the door
They think what their parents say

Off to school for the golden rule
Plus infinite shades of gray
Their grades growing ever higher
Where some will flex others sway

Color’s blind when colors blend
The indelible always stay
Unwanted hues discarded
When tired of their display

Yet a garden need be nourished
For the hope of blooms in May
Or lie and hide from the fall
And awake to face decay
