Good Day Anyway

When I don’t feel great, I get up too late.
And the sun’s now high in the sky.
~
The day’s now begun, but with hours less fun.
And I’m finding not much to say.
~
With coffee and torch, I head for the porch,
awaiting that first smoke of the day.
~
The music’s down low, the words start to flow.
And time’s now starting to fly.
~
I raise my head, thankfully not dead.
No need to question why.
~
With love all around, my two feet on the ground,
I see there’s no better way.

Infusion

It’s been a few days without a love poem writ.
The pencil’s working but I’ve run out of wit.
The words will come, but I know not from where.
I could try to force it, but I don’t dare.
~
Autumns felt and change underway,
adjustments are made every day.
But know one thing; my love won’t wane,
for you’re now infused with my body, soul and brain.

To Be Two, Too

Each other’s person is half a pair,
each moment’s doubled when two’s to share.
Work’s divided and troubles half,
one will smile, and both will laugh.
~
Feelings felt always in sync,
every blink’s seen as a wink.
When each is first there’s no last.
With only tomorrows there’s no past.
~
When one is lo, the other ve,
when one’s hi, both are free.
Two hands held the future’s bright.
And all that’s left is to be alright.

Serendipity

A busy day has just begun;
I got up late, no time for fun.
So it’s off to work in a flash,
I’d rather not but I need the cash.
~
The time is near when time’s my own.
I’m not too old but surely grown.
Retirement’s to be my second chance.
I’ll write all day and enjoy romance.
~
I’ll still get up early, I like the dawn.
I’ll take out the dog to pee on the lawn.
The sun will rise and words will flow.
There’ll be no rushing, I’ve nowhere to go.
~
But that time’s a few weeks away,
my feelings then I cannot say.
But I’m thinking I’ll yell YIPPY!
Then go home for a life of serendipity.

What a Rush

I got up late and have no time,
no time to ponder or to rhyme.
But I got some rest and that’s good.
But I didn’t write like I should.
~
My love won’t wake to poetry,
no token of love made by me.
Just hugs and kisses will have to do.
And the simple words “I love you”
~
I’ll hold her tight before I go,
then some more to let her know.
Words are conjured in the mind,
then sculpted on paper when time’s to find.
~
Time is precious and not to waste,
love endures no need for haste.
Sometimes heads are full of mush.
But the future’s ours, no need to rush.

Love and Death, Life and Breath

The universe dark when afraid,
atoms pulse and bonds made.
The voice within will rise and fall,
a poet’s obsession is defining all.
~
Heartbeats heard of passerby,
all’s to feel or question why.
Understood or criticized,
words writ, spoken or surmised.
~
Eye’s see truth and tell no lies,
somewhere, always are bright blue skies.
To write of life is to ponder death.
To be loved is sharing breath.

No Words

An unexpected journey has begun;
it starts each day with the rising sun.
Two fates collided with a rush,
our worries faded into a hush.
~
I wake each day with a smile,
surely to glow all the while.
My first thought is only you,
now silly dreams just won’t do.
~
Our minds, they are in sync,
I sense what you think.
I know what you’re feeling,
our souls now reeling.
~
Our days now made more bright,
we’ll tingle till our last kiss goodnight.
And I, now a poet speechless and dreams won’t do.
And my heart now and forever beats for only you.

Time’s Up for Down

Days spent in mourning,
nights spent a daze.
Sleep brings no solace,
awaiting morning’s haze.
~
Time has no meaning,
when only ends are sought.
Life has no feeling,
when the mind distraught.
~
Pleasures now elude,
the walls are closing in.
Darkness’s soon to follow,
trapped beneath this skin.
~
Hopes and dreams dissolved,
a mix of bad and worse.
And all that will remain,
yet another mournful verse.

Whom Me

There’s another me I’ve yet to see.
And this other me won’t let this one be.
Both see with my eyes and screw with my head.
But only one’s good, the other better off dead.
~
Never certain whom will wake,
or the trouble they will make.
Their highs often go way, way too far,
their lows always leaving a scar.
~
I need to know from where this comes,
who eats cake and who gets crumbs?
This rollercoaster must soon stop,
but then a merry-go-round I will hop.
~
I’m forcing this poem for a change,
may not be good but surely strange.
And maybe someday we can all agree,
whom the f*** is the real me.

Sensations

Tis a life of trials and tribulations,
with moments of wonder and frustrations.
A heart fluxed twixt flutters and fibrillations
The mind perplexed with expectations.
~
Paths all leading to unknown destinations,
time filled with instantaneous calibrations.
Strengths solidified learning limitations.
And love, perhaps tomorrow, no reservations.

Sum Time

Reality is different for us all.
Some will rise while others fall.
Though our time and space is the same,
some whither, for others fame.
~
Our state of mind has its say,
whether black, white or shades of gray.
The blues surround in the color of sky.
Is it bright asking why?
~
Optimism and pessimism play a role,
highs and lows take their toll.
Counting blessings don’t always add up.
Half’s irrelevant with a hole in our cup.
~
Reflection and introspection yield clues.
But not all answers bring good news.
Happiness being just a smile away,
I’ll seek yet again another day.

Comfortably Perplexed

Today’s poem’s not a poem at all.
Seems the flow has hit the wall.
The change in season’s what I suspect.
A change in me I don’t detect.
~
The blues behind, green’s on its way,
what happens next I can’t say.
Sometime a stick of wood is just that.
Or it can start a fire or built a habitat.
~
And with each box we’ve many strikes.
Some were used when we were tykes.
The rest we save for those rainy days,
when again they’ll guide our ways.
~
Jumbled metaphors run through my mind.
A start or end I can not find.
Perhaps now stopping is best.
It’s getting late, I need some rest.

Dwelling

The sun’s rising on a happy note.
Music’s low, eyes open to what she wrote.
Spirit’s high and excitement’s felt.
Colorful words shared and dwelt.
~
The sky’s brightening to pastel hues.
Old snow absorbs winter’s blues.
Each day wanes its frosty reflection.
Moments are waiting of pure perfection.
~
Warming’s new, thawing on its way.
Lives freshly created every day.
Images stage what’s perceived.
Minds arrange what’s deceived.
~
Visions form words, words become visions.
Answer’s clear but for decisions.
As is the suns rise and fall, without doubt.
Our projection, this day’s about.

Longings

Suspended in the depths of gloom and despair,
there death is longed and life’s feared.
Where darkness consumes all’s lost,
with one breath the line crossed.
~
But that’s not today and that’s good.
The sun’s shining as it should.
The air chilled but warming’s near.
Spring’s now longed, none’s to fear.

101

Charting points of worry and worth,
noted a pattern of mindset and mirth.
Positives charge with a forward flow.
Negatives draw from cycles that glow.
~
Graphically clear’s lines emerge.
And time’s plotting more to surge.
The future’s what we’ll become,
when the whole is the sum.

Upon a Time

In search of a fairy tale one slipped my gaze,
tis the tale of ordinary days.
There still be pirates that roam the seas.
Kings and queens still do what they please.
~
Animals speak and ease our fear,
wheels launch and cycles steer.
In the sky on wings we glide.
In castles fortified we seek and hide.
~
Space is felt between the lines.
Time’s lost when the cover confines.
Peace is eluded when parts anoint.
Love’s drawn to illustrate our point.
~
There’s joy to read in a child’s eyes.
To overlook the smile dies.
Stories told, life’s to chart,
character’s cast from the start.
