The Chill is Gone

A roof-top garden above us all,

trees now blossomed, the sky made small.

Morning’s crisp with color’s bright.

Bees and butterflies dance in flight.

~

Fragrant florals enhance the scene.

Whilst songs of birds fill between.

A busy squirrel hides their lunch.

All to be nurtured, I’ve a hunch.

~

Grassy patches catch the sun.

Warmth is felt where winter’s none.

Spring is here with glory and grace.

Smiles return to a once chilled face.

Pen and Folly

I’m taking a break from this pen and folly,
as my words of late have not been so jolly.
The spring is here and the flora’s in bloom.
Why should I wallow locked in this room?
~
I can’t spend my days writing alone,
I can’t watch more news or play with my phone.
My body needs movement and my brain needs repair.
So I’m going outside to enjoy the fresh air.
~
But not to worry, I’ll be back soon,
perhaps inspired by a beautiful moon.
Enough is enough of the weeks’ melancholy.
The weekend is here and I hope pen and folly.

Optimisery

Weeks slipping by, time’s running out.
Life’s shut in the outsides in doubt.
The vibe of the day’s now on mute.
Videos sought for anything cute.
~
The outdoors greening, flowers in bloom.
The house’s dust free, yet still a tomb.
The future’s awaited with joy and fear.
Normality’s coming but when’s not clear.
~
Day’s getting longer, the sun’s less bright.
Nights give respite, dreams take flight.
Tomorrows will come and none too soon.
May may be good but if not then June.

Wishful Springing

A little note wishing all a happy spring,
it’s time for rebirth and the joy it brings.
Days grow warmer with sunshine long.
Mornings greeted with nature’s song.
~
Birds and bees awe with their aerial dance.
Colors blossom and the scents of flora enhance.
A new world beckons and eyes gleam.
Hearts thaw and minds again dream.

Dwelling

The sun’s rising on a happy note.
Music’s low, eyes open to what she wrote.
Spirit’s high and excitement’s felt.
Colorful words shared and dwelt.
~
The sky’s brightening to pastel hues.
Old snow absorbs winter’s blues.
Each day wanes its frosty reflection.
Moments are waiting of pure perfection.
~
Warming’s new, thawing on its way.
Lives freshly created every day.
Images stage what’s perceived.
Minds arrange what’s deceived.
~
Visions form words, words become visions.
Answer’s clear but for decisions.
As is the suns rise and fall, without doubt.
Our projection, this day’s about.

Longings

Suspended in the depths of gloom and despair,
there death is longed and life’s feared.
Where darkness consumes all’s lost,
with one breath the line crossed.
~
But that’s not today and that’s good.
The sun’s shining as it should.
The air chilled but warming’s near.
Spring’s now longed, none’s to fear.

Spring’s Returning

Thanks to all my many a friend.
My heart and mind’s on the mend.
The road behind bumpy and long,
twists and turns, some wrong.
~
Paths ahead are better viewed;
time’s taught life’s skewed.
All that’s known is there’s usually doubt.
But the ups and downs average out.
~
Like suns and moons we all rise and set.
And with changing seasons we freeze or sweat.
Grounding’s found in what’s always there,
the love of friends with time we share.

Perfect Ends Perfect Beginnings

A Sunday sunset burst in pastel haze
fading slowly into violets and grays.
Dazed, a pink moon rose in celestial majesty.
This world now out shined for all to see.

Climbing silently over old roofs with leaks,
over the gables of ages and chimney peaks.
In blackness spires spied from the grave.
Leafless limbs shatter this image to save.

A puffy patchwork lace glows with absorption.
Wavy glazing enhances with its distortion.
Betwixt this web our phloxen orb floats higher.
Distance retreats time forward, we both tire.

Starlight dreams swap this rare focal storm.
Spring’s now vaulted into the nightly norm.

May Love

~*~

May forever’s forever bloom

May our presence never gloom

May your eyes see all truly kind.

May your lips say love is blind

~

May your words rest on my ears

May your heart beat back the fears

May your hands reach, touch and hold

May your mind color all bright and bold

~

Yet May’s may not blossom forever

Nor April and June’s Spring together

May all our seasons forever glow

And may our love forever grow

Four Leaf For All

Mornings fog this St. Paddy’s day

A chill in the air but spring’s on the way

Life’s returning from winter’s ghost

Time’s now, don your greens – share a toast

Rejoice with old friends and make some new

Tis the day Irish luck’s with all of you

We’ll bloom together, all’s chosen

All living green and having fun

Soon our days filled with sun

Saints all, when all are one

Springs Both Ways

My grass gets tall, I don’t care
My neighbor’s old, I have no fear
A porch to sit, a pen to push
A comfy cushion for my tush

~

Singing birdies in the bush
A barking dog, I whisper “shush”
A gentle breeze across my face
A stolen moment from the human race

~

My mind’s racing to outer-space
Thoughts flowing at breakneck pace
A blink of an eye, I hit a wall
My brain is blank, nothing at all
