Reach

Our love grows only stronger each day we’re alive.
As time marches forward each day we will thrive.
No negatives in our minds only pluses fill that space.
Our hearts are beating loudly and doubt has no place.
~
We’ll age together blissfully as the gray comes into view.
We’ll keep our spirits young, what else can we do?
We laugh when appropriate and sometimes when it’s not.
We’ll kiss when the moment’s right; I know there’ll be a lot.
~
We’ll watch our children grow and bear children of their own.
They’ll see the love we share and how that love is grown.
Once we were the students, now it’s time to teach.
Our lesson being love, then nothing’s out of reach.

Common Sense

A world at peace, perhaps a dream,
with goals shared as a team.
A future bright for one and all,
tomorrows fears then are small.
~
Common ills conquered without bloodshed,
pessimism starved when all are fed.
Optimism shines brightening our days,
nights restful when worry strays.
~
Children are joyful when parents secure.
Generations prosper when time is sure.
Growth’s insured without need,
when the common good we all heed.

Patience, Persistence and Perspiration

How many colors have you seen?
How many shades in between?
How many seconds till the day is through?
How many more before the day is new?
~
How many questions must I ask?
How many answers to complete the task?
How many times can I persist?
How many times can I resist?
~
How many redundancies before I’m done.
How many more was it than one?
How many poems must I write?
How many days will I see night?

Wrap It Up

I’m a little older now, I think I know what’s up.
I don’t go sniffin’ for shit like some young pup.
I keep my nose clean, and my head held up high.
The only way up is to reach for the sky.
~
Know what you’re sayin’ and who you’re talkin’ to.
Put a smile on your face and make the feeling true.
Help a stranger when in need, never passing blame.
Keep it real every day, this ain’t no stinkin’ game.

Learn to Earn

Wealth isn’t measured by dollars;
it’s measured by our sense.
Money can’t buy happiness,
unless we’re happy with pretense.
~
Joy comes from simple pleasures,
like a sunset or a baby’s smile.
Laughter’s always free,
whether old or a juvenile.
~
Heath too is very important,
as our feelings always show.
We can’t make a living,
when life’s value we don’t know.
~
Though love can require work,
it yields our greatest return.
So invest your time in others.
And self-worth you’ll then earn.

Bells Taking Their Toll

A day without time and no place to be.
I’ll rise with sun and bathe in the sea.
I’ll watch the grass grow and clouds float by.
I’ll live off the land and breathe in the sky.
~
A day without time sounds great to me.
I’ll live out my life being happy and free.
There will be no pain or any reason to cry.
There’s no compilation or a reason to lie.
~
A day without time is a day full of glee.
There are starlit nights and nothing to flee.
A day without time, I’d sure love to try.
But then the alarm that needs my reply.

No Plan B

As the years pass will love grow?
Time will tell but I think I know.
When love blossoms from the start.
And every second’s to long apart.
~
When passion’s seen in eyes aglow,
every touch’s felt from head to toe.
When each laughs at the others jokes.
And either’s bothered when the other smokes.
~
When morning comes and beauty’s to awe,
far more lovely than da Vinci could draw.
When every word written is full of joy,
every word’s welcome and none annoy.
~
When whispers heard loud and clear.
And lobes to nibble are always there.
When hands to hold stick like glue.
And troubles lifted with the help of two.
~
Yes time will tell if the feelings last,
if the future’s as bright as the past.
But not worry, now all’s all right,
as it will be till our last kiss goodnight.

Urban Lumberjack

~

Out sawing logs most proficiently

Till buzzing sounds cut through me

Awakened to a new sunrise

And looming towers in the skies

Guzzled whole bean, huge and black

Sugar stash stole from old knapsack

I grab my Axe then splash my face

Yesterday’s chips bear no trace

Beard’s quaffed perfectly shabby

Pressed flannel plaid looking flabby

Jeans donned with six inch cuff

Pipe’s lit for morning’s puff

In vintage boots scuffed, untied

A new day’s afoot heading outside

A bright spot picked, time to strike

Never as close as I would like

Pickup’s placed alarmed and ready

Loving years rolling steady

Traversing back the jiggles and jogs

Returning home to saw more logs

There distant dogs I hear barking

While alternate side of the street parking

Today’s Poem

Today’s poem’s a mixed bag of thought,
overwhelmed with input this poet fraught.
Barraged by beginnings, none’s caught,
words forged honesty’s wrought.

Hours fly, seconds’ drag, a minute sought.
Dreaming recollections, time’s bought.
Feelings unchanged, thinking’s naught.
Patience perseveres, love has taught.

My Masterpiece

My_Masterpiece

I feel a masterpiece is on the way.
But don’t look now, it’s not today.
I’ll write it all in a lyrical rhyme.
I’ll write of joy and precious time.
.
I’ll write of life and of love.
I’ll write of stars that shine above.
I’ll write of places that we’ve seen.
And the quiet times in between.
.
We’ve delightful dinners with lovely views,
and our times together with no shoes.
I’ll write of walks in the sand.
I’ll write of sunsets hand in hand.
.
I feel this masterpiece is well underway.
I feel it growing every day.
Now volumes I’ll write of loving you.
With a lifetime ahead before it’s through.

The Sum of All

In this space of many parts,
all have brains, all have hearts.
Some are big, some are small,
some will soar, others fall.
~
Survivor’s all until we’re done,
then another, never one.
Some will give, some will take,
choices are what we make.
~
Some choose poorly and pay the price.
Some squeak by but that’s never nice.
Some choose wisely and forge ahead,
thankful for another day fed.
~
Some learn lessons, others don’t.
Some will multiply, others won’t.
All in all we’re parts of the whole.
The sum of which equals our goal.

Noisy Finish

Word’s a mere generic symbology,
a blip in time of human technology.
Millennia unfolds, meaning’s to learn.
Linguistically labored is the futures concern.

Truth is felt, lies always lurking.
Voices still spirits working.
Sensation’s sensed and souls embrace.
Or silence awaits this human race.

Seems to Need

I need a bigger clock,
my watch seems to lie.
The spaces are too small,
and the hands seem to fly.
~
I need to see where time goes.
I can’t believe it’s me.
I only scroll a little.
And only when time’s free.
~
But that little watch keeps lying.
It tells me hours have flown past.
The stupid phone agrees.
I think the problems vast.
~
It must be a conspiracy,
drawing people to their laps.
Our future’s passing by,
and we’re now hunched like saps.
~
I’m going to go cold turkey.
When I’m done, we’ll share a toast.
But that I’ll start tomorrow.
Today I need to post.

Black and White

Mornings give light.
Emotion fills night.
Eyes force sight.
Legs flee plight.
.
Opinions oft slight.
Truth’s never quite.
Souls know right.
Minds will fight.
.
Hearts feel blight.
Tomorrows bring fright.
Yesterday lends insight.
Fortitude means might.
.
Sparks do ignite.
Love shines bright.
Hands do write.
Life’s to delight.

Leftie Tighty Righty Loosey

Are you the me that I can’t see?
Or I you, one half of two?
If but one, who then are you?
If you’re the one, what’s to do?
~
I’m confused, both conned and fused.
We share a body, everything’s used.
We’ve got hands and feet, both left and right.
We have two eyes that see the same light.
~
But our sides divided, never to agree.
Perhaps a split, each then free.
I think you should go and create a new life.
I feel it best you leave, be done with this strife.
~
The battle goes on, both being stuck.
Each barely manages without some luck.
I did have an end to make all laugh and shout.
But then the editor took the good stuff out.

Gurmumble

His name was Gurmumble,
or so it was said.
Gurmumble’s the sound,
comes out of his head.
~
Ask him a question,
anything you choose.
Gurmumble, he’d answer,
looking down at his shoes.
~
Gurmumble was teased,
folks called him a freak.
But he’s actually, quite normal,
he just couldn’t speak.
~
High School was soon starting,
Gurmumble was rightly scared.
The building was enormous,
much bigger than he feared.
~
His first week was horrible,
he’s a target to be teased.
Gurmumble was unfazed,
the bullies left displeased.
~
Come fall his novelty waned,
Gurmumble was now free.
Excelling at his studies,
he had a learning spree.
~
By Spring Gurmumble’s smitten,
but he couldn’t say a word.
So, he wrote his crush a poem,
the prettiest she’d ever heard.
~
He wrote her a poem each day,
awaiting her response.
And when she finally smiled,
it was Gurmumble’s Renaissance.
~
All the girls were swooning;
the boys were just confused.
Gurmumble’s now a star,
no longer feeling abused.
~
His poems now sung as songs,
Gurmumble plays guitar.
His loving girlfriend sings,
I’m sure they’re going far.

Never Too Tired To Be Inspired

Waking to your eyes, your lips I can’t ignore.
We hold each other tightly, our love we can be sure.
Inspired with excitement of making love with you,
our passionate embraces are all I wish to do.
~
Our climax is explosive, a rest then we’ll take.
We’ll whisper, laugh and caress till again love we’ll make.
Bodies now exhausted, our minds still on high,
we’ll float downstairs together to greet the morning sky.
~
Coffee then is shared and we’ll plan our busy day.
Our thoughts are always sunny even when it’s gray.
Hands we’ll hold on our walk, the future now in view.
Bliss we’ll share every day, together; me and you.

Besties Besting

Silence heard before the dawn.
Birds awaken, silence gone.
Sun arisen, cars zoom past.
Morning bliss’s fading fast.
~
Breathing in each other’s air,
day’s begun, time to share.
Faces flash, smiles few,
all to find something new.
~
Day will end, night’s to start.
Home I go to my treasured heart.
First a kiss then hello,
dreamy eyes let me know.
~
Sleep awaits, minds at ease,
first time for the birds and bees.
Dreams to follow, world’s at rest.
Another day, ours was best.

Abstract Realities

Mornings hide in darkness to an untrained eye.
Light fills the mind. Who needs a sunlit sky?
Wheel’s always turning; they get us here and there.
Thought moves us forward, making us aware.
~
Hate infects the soul, love mends a heart.
Memories fill the void at times when apart.
Words can flow like water, but not all fit to drink.
Edits smooth the surface the deeper that we think.
~
Actions set in motion the motives of our will.
Results always happen regardless of our skill.
Infants of the night, stars will guide the way.
The universe is infinite or so our eyes will say.
~
Seeing is absolute, visions much less clear.
Plans are two dimensional stumbling on a sphere.
Life’s full of surprises, full of good and bad.
Time is unpredictable, why would some choose sad.
~
Poets make predictions, half are mostly true.
Honesty measures accuracy, what shade of gray are you?
Poems can be too lengthy with no end in sight.
I’m predicting this is one, so I’ll say goodnight.
